The director of Silent Hill: Townfall says his team knew very little about the other Silent Hill games Konami had in development at the same time. Jon McKellan, founder of Screen Burn Interactive, made the remarks at MCM London Comic Con, according to GamesRadar and Video Games Chronicle.
Finding out with everyone else
Konami revealed Silent Hill 2 Remake, Silent Hill f and Silent Hill: Townfall in a single stream, alongside Silent Hill Ascension and Return to Silent Hill, GamesRadar recounts. McKellan said his team learned about many of the other projects when the public did, at the moment they were announced.
He described the arrangement as “kind of kept in the dark,” and said that, as a fan, he found it exciting not to see too far behind the curtain.
Why Konami did it
According to McKellan, series producer Motoi Okamoto was keen to stop projects from influencing each other. Konami’s team looked across the games and would step in if one began to resemble another, usually without saying which game was the issue.
McKellan stressed that the setup did not feel restrictive. He said it was not a rigid shared universe plan where each team had to stay in its own lane, and that his team had a lot of creative freedom.
Konami stepped in only once, he said, over one enemy design that was a little too close to something in another game. VGC adds that his team saw Silent Hill f a couple of months before its release and judged its experience and setting different enough from Townfall that overlap was not a real risk.
About Townfall
Townfall is developed by Screen Burn Interactive and published by Konami and Annapurna Interactive, according to Gematsu. The game launched on September 24, 2026. Gematsu lists PlayStation 5 and PC, while VGC lists PlayStation 5, PC and Xbox Series X|S, so check the platform you want before buying.
Gematsu gives USD prices only: $49.99 for the Standard Edition and $59.99 for the Digital Deluxe Edition. It does not list a Canadian price. VGC also notes that recent updates have eased the stealth sections and the final puzzle.
What it means for readers
For players, the main point is that the Silent Hill games in this revival were built to stand apart, with Konami watching for overlap rather than planning them as one connected release. If you are buying Townfall in Canada, the sources give no Canadian dollar price, so check the store listing for your platform before you order. Pricing and platform details in the sources come from US coverage and may differ in other stores.
