Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Konami’s new 2D Castlevania, is turning into one of the most bought games in Canada as Halloween approaches. The game launched on October 15 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S and PC. On October 21, 2026, the Night One Edition for Switch ranked 12th on Amazon.ca’s Video Games best sellers list at $54.96, with Amazon showing “800+ bought in past month”. On Steam, the PC version costs CDN$ 39.99 in Canada and US$29.99 in the US.

Why it is hot right now

The timing helps. A gothic action game about vampire hunters, Dracula’s castle and a city full of monsters landed two weeks before Halloween, which makes it an easy pick for spooky season. Player reaction has been good but not unanimous: Steam rates it Mostly Positive from 7,756 user reviews.

What the game is

According to Konami and its Steam page, Belmont’s Curse is a 2D action and exploration game made by Konami, Evil Empire and Motion Twin. It is set in Paris in 1499, 23 years after Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. You play as Rose Belmont, daughter of Trevor Belmont, as monsters pour out of a castle and set the city ablaze.

Key features listed by Konami:

  • The Vampire Killer whip, used for combat and for swinging around levels like a trapeze artist
  • Bosses that include Death, Medusa and Carmilla, plus new ones such as Joan of Arc
  • Beaten bosses become tarot style Arcana cards that unlock spells and special moves
  • Weapons in seven categories and Relics with offensive and defensive effects
  • Hidden rooms, secrets and upgrades off the main path

Inven Global reported that the soundtrack is by Daniel ASADI, and that a Digital Sound and Art Gallery holds 71 tracks from the game.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

It suits players who like exploration heavy 2D action, fans of the classic Castlevania games, and anyone looking for a spooky game to play through Halloween. It is rated Teen. If you want a calm or easy game, or you dislike trial and error boss fights, it may not be for you.
