Tire swap season has started in Canada, and one tool is riding the wave on Amazon.ca: the Lexivon LX-183, a 1/2 inch drive click torque wrench. On October 21, 2026, it ranked #1 in Torque Wrenches and 23rd on the whole Power and Hand Tools best sellers list at $64.97, sold by Lexivon itself, with Amazon showing “500+ bought in past month”. In the US, Lexivon’s own store lists it at US$64.97, and Amazon.com had it at US$44.97 when we checked.

Why it is selling now

Every fall, many Canadian drivers put on winter tires at home instead of waiting for a shop appointment. In Quebec, winter tires are mandatory from December 1 to March 15 for vehicles registered in the province, with fines of $200 to $300 for drivers who skip them, according to a Square One Insurance guide. A torque wrench is the tool that lets you tighten wheel nuts to the number in your owner’s manual instead of guessing with a tire iron.

What you get

According to Lexivon, the LX-183 offers:

  • A 1/2 inch square drive and a 10 to 150 ft-lb range (13.6 to 203.5 Nm)
  • An audible and tactile click when you reach the torque you set
  • A dual scale in ft-lb and Nm with 1 ft-lb steps
  • Accuracy of +/-4%, supplied pre-calibrated with a calibration certificate
  • A 17 inch length and a reversible 24 tooth ratchet head
  • A storage case; sockets are sold separately

Lexivon gives it a 12 month warranty, or 24 months if you register within 90 days. The company says it fits car, truck and trailer wheel fasteners within its rated range, as long as you follow the vehicle maker’s specification.

Who should buy it, and who should skip it

It suits drivers who swap their own wheels twice a year, people who work on their car in the garage, and anyone who wants proof that each wheel nut is tightened the same way. It is a manual tool with no battery to charge.

Skip it if your jobs need less than 10 ft-lb or more than 150 ft-lb. Lexivon also notes a few rules worth knowing: torque is measured clockwise only, you should stop pulling as soon as it clicks, you should never use it as a breaker bar, and you should return it to 10 ft-lb before putting it away.

Alternatives and add-ons

If you only need lower settings, Lexivon’s 3/8 inch LX-182 covers 10 to 80 ft-lb and was $59.97 on Amazon.ca, only a few dollars less. Since the LX-183 comes without sockets, a 1/2 inch impact socket set for wheel nuts, such as Lexivon’s LX-111 at $34.99 on Amazon.ca, is the main thing to add. Check that the socket size matches your wheel nuts first.
