The WORX Nitro 40V 12 inch cordless snow shovel, model WG460, is listed at C$399.99 on Amazon.ca with two 4.0Ah batteries and a charger in the box. It is a compact electric snow thrower for driveways and walkways, and WORX says one charge clears a driveway of about 2 to 4 cars.

WORX makes the WG460 around its PowerShare battery system, where two 20V batteries combine to give 40V. It is also the model Tom’s Guide called sold out pretty much everywhere during the blizzard of 2026, which is a good reason to look at it now, before the first big storm of the season.

What does the WORX WG460 do?

It is a battery-powered shovel head that throws snow rather than just pushing it. The specs from WORX:

  • Motor: 3,000 RPM brushless
  • Clearing width: 12 inches
  • Clearing depth: 6 inches
  • Throw distance: up to 25 feet
  • Chute: 3 adjustable settings, directing snow 30 degrees to either side
  • Speeds: 2-speed control
  • Weight, bare: 17.21 lbs
  • Warranty: 3 years

The battery sits behind the handle, which WORX says helps balance and keeps recoil low. The tool folds down for storage in a garage or a car trunk. Charging takes 2 hours, per the maker.

The reason is simple: people could not find it. Tom’s Guide, in a piece last updated on February 23, 2026, said the WG460 was sold out at Target, Best Buy, Walmart, Amazon and WORX, and that many other well-rated electric snow shovels were also unavailable at that time of year. The reviewer also liked it. He threw snow about 15 to 20 feet, including fairly wet snow, and on high power it cleared up to six inches.

It is in stock at Amazon.ca at the time of writing, shipped and sold by Amazon.ca. That is no promise that it will stay that way once snow is in the forecast.

What are the downsides?

Tom’s Guide reported that the connection between the pole and the head felt flimsy and wobbled under heavy snow. In a later storm of about a foot and a half, the reviewer needed two passes to reach pavement and finished the driveway with a snowblower. No battery run time came from that test, so WORX’s own claim of 2 to 4 cars is the only runtime figure.

Prices

At the time of writing, Amazon.ca lists the WG460 kit at C$399.99, against a list price of C$429.99 on the same page. A spare WORX 20V 4.0Ah PowerShare Pro battery (WA3674) is listed at C$113.40, compared with a list price of C$129.99. The WORX US page shows no price. Tom’s Guide gave a US price of $329 and said it had been listed as low as $239, though those are from its own check and may have changed. Prices can change at any time.

Who it suits

Homeowners with a short driveway. The 12 inch width and the 6 inch depth fit a one or two car driveway and steps, where a full snowblower is more than you need.

People who already own WORX 20V tools. The batteries work with other WORX power tools, according to Tom’s Guide, which cuts the cost of a second battery pair.

Anyone who dislikes gas engines. The shovel is battery-powered and, per Tom’s Guide, quiet.

Who should wait. If you regularly face deep, heavy snow, the reviewer’s own conclusion was to use a snowblower for the rest of the driveway after a foot and a half. For long or sloped driveways, a larger machine makes more sense.

What is still unknown?

WORX gives no run time per setting, and the US page shows no price. Canadian availability beyond Amazon.ca is not covered in the sources we read. The Amazon.ca stock level at the time of writing is only a snapshot.
