Makita used Equip Expo in Louisville, Kentucky to show 10+ new products for its battery-powered line, according to a Makita U.S.A. release dated October 21, 2026. The one you can buy now is a 40V max XGT backpack blower, while two chain saws and a snow blower follow over the next several months.

Makita did not give prices in the release, and it does not mention Canadian availability. Treat the dates below as US timing for now.

The backpack blower (GBU04)

The 40V max XGT backpack blower, model GBU04, is listed as available now. Makita says it delivers the blowing force of a 65cc gas blower, with 32N of force, 675 CFM and 215 MPH.

Makita also claims:

  • Up to 23% lighter than a gas blower, at 19.4 lbs with two 8.0Ah batteries on board
  • Up to 65% quieter than a gas blower, with a sound pressure rating of 60 dB(A)
  • A dual battery system that switches over automatically when the active battery runs out

Chain saws and a snow blower

Two XGT chain saws are coming in 2027. SlashGear, which also covered the show, reported that Makita has not announced prices for any of them.

  • 14” top handle chain saw (GCU10): Early 2027. Makita says it delivers the power of a 35cc gas saw, cuts 35% faster than one, and weighs 9 lbs with a 14” bar and chain and the 4.0Ah BL4040F battery.
  • 18” rear handle chain saw (GCU11): Spring 2027. Makita compares it to a 42cc gas saw, says it cuts 10% faster, and says it is 1.7 lbs lighter than the GCU04 (tool only).

The 40V max XGT single stage snow blower (SN001GL101) arrives in November 2026. It clears a 21” wide path, throws snow up to 33 ft, has an adjustable rotation speed, dual LED lights and a handle that folds for storage. Makita pitches it at property managers, HOAs, homeowners and small businesses.

Gloves and storage

Six new knit gloves with abrasion, cut and puncture protection arrive in November 2026, along with FitKnit cut level 3 arm sleeves. Five new MAKTRAK storage pieces, including two rolling tool boxes whose telescopic handles fit under a truck bed cover, are listed for late 2026.

What it means for buyers

Makita says its XGT system covers 170+ products on 40V max and 80V max batteries, and its LXT system covers 350+ products on 18V and 36V batteries. If you already own XGT batteries, the new blower and saws should work from the same pool, though the release does not spell out which batteries ship in each kit.

Canadian and US prices, kit contents and Canadian dates have not been announced. Check Makita’s Canadian and US sites or a local dealer before you plan a purchase.
