The Anker Prime Power Bank (26K, 300W), model A110A, is C$189.99 on Amazon.ca at the time of writing. Anker’s Canadian page lists the same power bank at CA$279.99, so the Amazon price is 32 percent lower, as the Amazon page itself shows.

How good is it in testing?

Expert Reviews tested the A110A and praised its power and fast recharging. With two 100W adapters, which together supply 197W, the reviewer reached 47% in 15 minutes and 88.7% in 30 minutes. Anker’s own claim is 50% in 13 minutes and 80% in 40 minutes at the full 250W input.

The review also found weak spots. Phone charging underperformed, with a phone reaching 37% against 46 to 47% from rival power banks, and the reviewer suspected throttling. The glossy panel shows fingerprints. Expert Reviews called it one of the most expensive power banks it has tested, and still gave it a best buy badge.

Prices

At the time of writing, Amazon.ca lists the A110A at C$189.99 against a list price of C$279.99, which matches the price Anker’s Canadian page shows. That is 32 percent off. Anker’s own page also shows a CA$90.00 coupon, but we could not confirm its terms, so compare both before you buy. Anker’s French Canadian page listed the power bank as sold out when we checked.

Who it suits

Laptop travellers. The 300W total output and two ports rated up to 140W suit a laptop plus a phone on a long trip, and Expert Reviews called it flight safe.

Handheld gamers and tablet users. The reviewer called it a strong choice for laptops, tablets and handheld consoles on the go.

Anyone who mostly charges a phone. The testing found weak phone charging against rivals, so a cheaper, smaller power bank may do the same job for less.

Who should wait. If the coupon on Anker’s own page applies to you, it could change the comparison. Check both prices side by side first.

What is the catch?

There are three things to weigh. First, the seller is AnkerDirect-CA, which is a storefront with the maker’s name on it, and Amazon handles the shipping. Second, the French Canadian page on Anker’s store lists the item as sold out, so stock on Anker’s own site may be thin. Third, the review above is clear that this is a premium product: it costs more than most power banks the reviewer has tried, and phone charging did not lead the pack.

What to check before buying

Make sure you get the A110A model, not another Anker Prime power bank, and note that the charging base version has its own listing on Anker’s site. Confirm the seller on the Amazon page before you check out.

Check the Amazon.ca page for today’s price and the Anker Canada page for the current list price and any coupon before you order.
