Fairloom, an iPhone and iPad app that divides rent by how good each room is instead of splitting it evenly, is free on the App Store listings for both Canada and the United States. New Mobile Life reported on October 31 that it is on a limited-time free offer, with a regular price of US $0.99. Neither source gives an end date.
The app comes from JetRise IT Solutions LLC. Version 1.0 appeared on October 8 and version 1.1 followed on October 12, and the download is only 9 MB.
What is free, and for how long?
The whole app is free to download. The Canadian and US App Store pages both show “Free” and list no in-app purchases, so there is no paid tier hiding behind the download.
The listing does not say when the free price ends. New Mobile Life calls it a limited-time offer, so if you want it, install it now rather than later.

How does Fairloom split the rent?
Fairloom scores each room on five factors and turns the scores into a weighted share of the total rent. According to the App Store page, you set the factors and the weights yourself:
- Size of the room
- Natural light
- Closet space
- Bathroom access
- Noise
Each factor has a slider, and you can raise the weight of whatever matters most to your household. The app shows the result as a live percentage breakdown with a chart, and a drag-to-arrange floor plan lets you lay out the rooms on screen. A “Why this price?” button, added in version 1.1, explains each room’s price factor by factor. Version 1.1 also added one-tap sharing of the split.
Once everyone agrees, the app creates a one-page PDF roommate agreement. It lists the rent breakdown, the scoring method and a signature line for each person, and you can send it by Messages, Mail or AirDrop, or print it.

Which devices does it run on?
It runs on iPhone and iPad with iOS or iPadOS 17.6 or later. The listing also names Macs with an M1 chip or later running macOS 14.6 or later, and Apple Vision devices running visionOS 1.3 or later, although the page adds that the iPad version is not verified for macOS. There is no Android version listed. The interface is in English and Spanish.
Is it private?
The developer says the app works completely offline, with no account or login. On the App Store privacy label, JetRise reports that it does not collect any data from the app. Apple notes that this information is supplied by the developer and has not been verified by Apple.

How do you get it?
Open the App Store on an iPhone or iPad and search for Fairloom, or use the official listing from JetRise IT Solutions LLC. Check that the button reads “Get” and not a price, then download it. No sign-up is needed to use it.

Prices in Canada and the US
- Canada: the App Store listing shows Free.
- United States: the App Store listing shows Free.
- Regular price: New Mobile Life lists US $0.99. No Canadian regular price appears in the sources.
Prices on the App Store can change at any time, so the figures above are what the listings showed at the time of writing.
Who it suits
Students and new tenants. If you are about to sign a lease with roommates, the scoring gives you numbers to talk through before move-in day, and the PDF gives everyone something to sign.
People in a long-running rent argument. The “Why this price?” breakdown shows which factor drives each room’s share, which makes it easier to debate the weights instead of the total.
Landlords who sublet rooms. The developer names subletting rooms in your own property as a use, so a landlord can show tenants how each price was reached.
Who should skip it. Android users have no version, and anyone who is happy splitting rent evenly will get little from it. The PDF is a document for the group to sign. The sources do not say it is a legal contract, so treat it as a record of what you agreed, and check your lease and local rules for anything binding.

What is still unknown
The sources do not give an end date for the free price. The app has not collected enough ratings or reviews on the App Store to show an overview, so there is little outside feedback yet. The sources also do not say whether the app will stay free for later updates.
What to do next
Open the Fairloom page in the App Store, confirm it shows Free in your country, and download it before the offer changes. Then add your rooms, set the weights as a group, and share the PDF only when everyone agrees on the numbers.
