And Many More: Birthday Alerts, a simple birthday tracker from developer Justin Fleming, is listed as a free download on the App Store. The developer’s own website still describes it at $0.99, and a tip from the site New Mobile Life flagged the app as free for a limited time. The App Store page does not state an end date.

What the app does

The app keeps birthdays in one list sorted by who is coming up next. You can add people by hand, with or without a birth year, pick them from Contacts, or import a spreadsheet in CSV, TSV, Excel or Google Sheets format.

Reminders can be set once as a default or changed for each person, and you can write custom reminder messages. Version 1.3 added a choice of message tone: Simple, Warm or Practical. An optional weekly digest summarizes upcoming birthdays.

Other features listed by the developer:

  • Tags such as Family, Work or Close Friends, plus search by name, notes, contact info or tags
  • Milestone birthdays shown at a glance
  • Gift ideas, notes, and marks for gifts handled and cards sent
  • Shortcuts to call, message or email a person, or add a birthday to Calendar
  • Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, including an extra-large widget on iPad
  • A side by side list and detail view on iPad and iPhone Duo, and a ⌘N shortcut with a hardware keyboard

Privacy, price and compatibility

According to the App Store listing, there are no ads, no subscriptions and no data collection. Apple notes that this privacy information comes from the developer and has not been verified by Apple.

The listing shows the app at about 5 MB and requires iOS 18.6 or later on iPhone, iPadOS 18.6 or later on iPad, macOS 15.6 or later on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later, or visionOS 2.6 or later. The version history says version 1.3, released on October 5, made the app free to download, and the current version is 1.4. The developer’s website, by contrast, still says iPhone only and iOS 18.0 or later, so check the store page for your device before downloading.

What it means for you

If you want a no-frills way to track birthdays without an account, this is a low risk download while the price shows as free. Because no end date is given, the price could change at any time, so the safest move is to grab it now and decide later whether you use it. The listing also carries only a couple of ratings so far, so there is little user feedback to go on.

The sources do not say whether the price differs in the Canadian App Store, so check the price shown in your own region. The prices above are what the sources showed at the time of writing.
