StreakZen, a habit tracking app for iPhone, currently lists its Lifetime Purchase at $0.00 on the App Store. The tip site New Mobile Life reports that the lifetime tier normally costs US $29.99 and is free for a limited time.
The app itself is a free download. The lifetime tier is an in-app purchase, so you install the app, finish the first-run setup and check the price on the paywall before you confirm anything.
What does StreakZen do?
StreakZen, listed as Habit Tracker, is a daily habit tracker from developer Keval Vasaniya, filed under Productivity. According to its App Store description, it records each habit and counts your streak of consecutive days.
The listing names six features:
- Habit tracking with a simple interface
- Streak tracking
- A daily routine planner
- Custom reminders
- Progress tracking with simple insights
- Goal tracking
The interface is English only. The listing says it requires iOS 15.6 or later and is designed for iPhone, and Apple says it has not verified the app for macOS.
How do you get the lifetime version for free?
Follow the steps New Mobile Life describes, using only the official App Store:
- Download StreakZen from the App Store listing
- Open the app and complete the first-run setup
- When the paywall appears, look at the Lifetime price
- If it shows $0, confirm to claim the lifetime unlock
New Mobile Life warns that a price other than $0 means the free period has ended, and that you should not confirm a paid purchase in that case.
Prices
Here is what the listings show at the time of writing. Prices can change at any time.
- App download: free
- Lifetime Purchase: $0.00 on the listing, normally US $29.99 according to New Mobile Life
- Yearly Subscription: $9.99 on the US listing and $12.99 on the Canadian listing
The $29.99 list price comes from the tip site, because the App Store page only shows the price at the moment you view it. The free period is described as limited time, and no end date is stated by the tip site or on the App Store page.
For Canadian readers, the Canadian App Store lists the app as free with in-app purchases and shows the same $0.00 Lifetime Purchase. The Canadian page shows a plain dollar sign, so check the paywall in your own account before you confirm.
Who it suits
New habit builders. The app keeps the basics in one place: a list of habits, reminders and a streak counter. That is enough for someone starting with two or three routines.
People who like streaks. The streak counter is the central idea in the description, so it suits readers who stay motivated by not breaking a chain.
Subscription skeptics. A lifetime unlock avoids the yearly subscription the app also offers, which matters if you dislike recurring charges.
Android and desktop users. The listing is for iPhone, so this deal does not help you.
What is still unknown?
Nobody has said when the free lifetime price ends, or why the developer is offering it. The listing also says the app has not yet received enough ratings or reviews to show an overview, so there is little public feedback to read.
On privacy, the developer states that diagnostic and analytics data may be collected but not linked to your identity. Apple notes that this has not been verified. Check the paywall price and the developer’s privacy policy on the App Store page before you decide.
