PocketFacts, a small iPhone and iPad app for collecting interesting facts before you forget them, is free to download on the App Store right now. Tip site New Mobile Life listed its usual price as US $0.99, and the US App Store listing showed PocketFacts as Free when we checked. The developer, Michael Gillbanks, has not given an end date for the free price.
What PocketFacts does
The pitch is simple: you hear something worth remembering in a video, podcast, book, article or conversation, and you want somewhere tidy to keep it. According to the App Store listing, the app lets you:
- Add facts to a single collection you can return to later
- Give each fact several tags, with previously used tags saved for quick reuse
- Filter the collection by tag or search through everything you have saved
- Look up a fact on a topic when you want something to talk about with friends
- Sync facts and tags across your Apple devices with iCloud
The official screenshots also show room for extra notes and a source link under each fact, plus a share button, which fits the app’s subtitle: collect, store and share facts.
Requirements
- iPhone and iPad with iOS 26.0 or iPadOS 26.0 or later; the listing also shows Mac support with macOS 26.0 and an Apple M1 chip or later
- 16.8 MB download
- English only, age rating 4+
The high system requirement is the main limit here: if your device cannot run the latest software, the app will not install.
Privacy: worth a look
This is the part to read before downloading. The latest update, version 1.0.4, lists “Added Meta app event tracking to improve advertising measurement” among its changes. The App Store privacy label now shows identifiers and usage data that may be used for the developer’s advertising or marketing and for analytics, though not linked to your identity. The developer’s privacy policy says that where the Facebook SDK is included, an app may send install and activation events to Meta to measure ad campaigns, and that Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt is shown where required. You can manage tracking permission in your iPhone’s Privacy and Security settings.
The policy also says the developer does not run its own servers for the content you create; your facts stay on the device or in your own iCloud account.
How to get it
- Open the App Store and search for “PocketFacts” by Michael Gillbanks.
- Make sure the button shows Get, not a price.
- Tap Get, then add your first fact and a tag or two.
The listing shows no in-app purchases, and no end date has been given, so the price can change at any time.
Who it suits
PocketFacts suits trivia fans, students and anyone who likes having a good story ready for a conversation. People who already keep notes in Apple Notes may not need a separate app, but the tag filter makes a growing collection easier to browse than a long note.
