Minpick, a task picker for iPhone and iPad, shows a price of Free on its App Store listing, and the tip site 流動日報 New Mobile Life reports a usual price of US $0.99. You save things you want to do along with a rough number of minutes, then tell the app how much time you have, and it shows up to three tasks that should fit.

It comes from developer Makoto Fukuoka and is sold through the App Store in the Productivity category. The listing is rated 4+, and the download is 9.4 MB.

How does Minpick pick a task?

The listing and the tip article describe a simple loop. You store tasks with an estimate, tap the time you have, and the app trims the list for you:

  • Save a task together with roughly how many minutes it takes
  • Choose 3, 5 or 10 minutes, and Minpick shows up to three tasks that should fit
  • Narrow the list by category or priority, for example work only, or only medium and high priority
  • Pick the time from a Home Screen widget
  • Set an optional reminder for a chosen day and time

According to the developer, the aim is not to make you work harder but to shorten the moment where you hesitate over what to start. The developer also says you are free to stop, and that a day of rest is fine. You still make the final choice yourself.

What about privacy, languages and accessibility?

The developer states that no account is required and that your saved tasks stay on your device. It also says there are no ads, subscriptions or in-app purchases. On the privacy label, the developer reports that it collects no data from the app, and Apple notes that this information has not been verified by Apple.

You can switch languages inside the app. The listing names English plus 43 more, and Punjabi, French, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Vietnamese and both Chinese scripts are among them. The developer says VoiceOver and Dynamic Type are supported, although the accessibility section of the listing says the developer has not yet indicated which accessibility features the app supports.

Compatibility is listed as iOS 17.0 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 17.0 or later on iPad. The page also lists Mac (macOS 14.0 or later with an Apple M1 chip or later) and Apple Vision, but marks the app as designed for iPad and not verified for macOS.

Prices: what does Minpick cost in Canada and the US?

The App Store page currently shows Minpick as Free, and the Canadian App Store page shows it at no cost in Canadian dollars. The tip site says the usual price is US $0.99 and calls the offer limited time. The pages do not give a Canadian specific usual price, and no source states an end date, so the offer can end at any time.

The version history adds context. The notes for version 1.0.2 say the app was made free so that more people could use it and help shape future changes, and that new downloads may become a paid one-time purchase once the app has matured. The sources do not say how long it will stay free.

To get it, open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad, search for Minpick, and check that the button says Get rather than a price. Because the price can change, confirm it on your own storefront before you download.

Who it suits

People with scattered days. If your to-do list is long and you lose minutes deciding, an app that offers three options at a time is built for exactly that problem.

Students and remote workers. Gaps between classes or calls are the obvious use. Pick 5 or 10 minutes, see what fits, and do one thing.

Anyone who dislikes sign ups. According to the developer there is no account, no ads and no purchases inside the app, so setup should be quick.

Who should skip it. If you plan large projects, need shared lists, team assignments or calendar sync, none of that appears in the sources. Mac users should also note that the listing says the app is not verified for macOS. A full to-do manager will do more than this narrow tool.

What is still unknown

The sources do not say when the offer ends, whether a Canadian usual price differs from US $0.99, or whether tasks sync between devices. The app also has too few ratings so far for the App Store to show an overview, so there is little public feedback to go on.
