Storage Cleaner: SpaceFresh, an app that finds duplicate photos, large videos and other space hogs on an iPhone or iPad, is offering its Lifetime Access upgrade for free. The in-app purchase list on the App Store shows Lifetime Access at $0.00 in both Canada and the United States at the time of writing.

Hong Kong tip site New Mobile Life reported that the lifetime version normally costs US$9.99 and is free for a limited time. The usual Canadian price has not been stated, and no end date has been given, so the offer can end at any time.

What the app does

SpaceFresh, from developer Nitin Gohel, scans your photo library on the device itself. According to the App Store listing, it can:

  • Find exact duplicate photos and videos, and group similar shots with the best one suggested
  • List large videos from biggest to smallest, plus screenshots, screen recordings and blurry photos
  • Flag images saved from social and messaging apps
  • Let you swipe right to keep a photo or left to mark it for removal, with nothing deleted until you confirm
  • Make smaller copies of big photos and videos, keeping the date, location, favourites and albums, while the original stays until you delete it
  • Find and merge duplicate contacts, saving a backup first

The developer says scanning works offline, needs no account and can be locked with Face ID.

What the free unlock changes

The basic app is already free to scan, review and swipe, and it lets you clear screenshots, blurry photos and saved social images at no cost. Removing duplicate and similar photos, cleaning large and duplicate videos, compressing and merging contacts are limited to a small starter allowance unless you have Pro. The lifetime purchase removes those limits for good, rather than week by week.

The catch

  • Pro is also sold as a weekly subscription, listed at $4.99 on the Canadian store and $3.99 on the US store, which renews automatically. Make sure you pick Lifetime Access, not the weekly plan or a free trial.
  • The listing says the app contains advertising.
  • It needs iOS 17.0 or iPadOS 17.0 or later.
  • It is a new app with very few ratings so far.

How to get it

  1. Download Storage Cleaner: SpaceFresh from the App Store. The app itself is free.
  2. Open it and go through the first setup screens until the upgrade screen appears.
  3. Choose Lifetime Access and check that the price shows $0.00 before you confirm.
  4. If the price is anything other than $0.00, the offer has ended. Do not confirm the purchase.

As with any in-app purchase, the unlock is tied to your Apple account, so you can restore it later if you reinstall.

Who it suits

It suits anyone whose iPhone or iPad keeps warning that storage is full and who wants to clear duplicates and shrink videos without uploading photos to a cloud service. Take your time in the review screens, since deleted photos go to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app before they are gone for good.
