CD Projekt Red is releasing a free update for Cyberpunk 2077 on October 22, 2026. Called the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 Update (2.5), it celebrates the second season of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime, which has just arrived on Netflix. The studio went through the full patch notes during a REDstream broadcast on October 21, and Push Square reports they largely match details that leaked a day earlier.

New quests and a new way to fight

The update adds fresh story content along with a new playstyle:

  • Clampdown, a side quest set before the events of Edgerunners 2. It unlocks after you finish The Heist and two gigs for Wakako, and it rewards a 5-piece gear set based on the character King.
  • Welcome to Paradise, a side quest that takes V on a guided tour of Night City narrated by Richard Night. It unlocks after The Heist once you reach Street Cred level 15.
  • 12 new Minor Arcana tarot cards to collect, tied to an extension of the Fool on the Hill quest.
  • Double Trouble, a new perk in the Cool skill tree, plus four supporting perks. It lets V dual-wield Power pistols and revolvers.
  • A new radio station, HKGN 102.0 FM, playing music from the Edgerunners series.

More ways to show off

Five new outfit sets go on sale from clothing vendors in different districts, and some hairstyles that used to be limited to NPCs are now available for V. Players can also restyle hand cyberware such as Mantis Blades and Gorilla Arms at five new shops called Glamdocs, each with its own intro scene. Photo mode gains frames from the Cyberpunk Trading Card Game and new dual-wielding poses.

Mods come to consoles

The biggest technical change is cross-platform mod support powered by mod.io. According to the patch notes, players can browse and install a selection of community mods from the in-game menu on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch 2 is not on that list. On consoles, trophies and achievements cannot be earned from a modded save.

Other changes include:

  • a field of view slider on consoles
  • saves grouped by playthrough, and item filters for stashes
  • support for DLSS 4.5 on PC, with up to 6X Multi Frame Generation
  • FSR 3 upscaling removed, while FSR 2.1, FSR 4 and FSR 3.1 Frame Generation remain
  • a fix for a save error on Nintendo Switch 2

What it means for you

The update is free for everyone who already owns Cyberpunk 2077, so players in Canada and the US only need to download it on October 22. The patch notes do not mention different timing by region.

If you finished the game years ago, the new quests, the dual pistol perk and console mods are solid reasons to load an old save or start a new character. If you do not own it yet, the Ultimate Edition bundles the base game with the Phantom Liberty expansion, according to Windows Central, and Switch 2 owners should note that the mod support does not cover their version for now.
