Cadre Contacts, an app that cleans up the address book already stored in Apple Contacts, is free on the App Store for a limited time. New Mobile Life reports that it normally costs US$0.99, and the App Store listing now shows it as free. No end date is given, so the price could change at any time.

The latest version, 1.8, adds layouts for both screens of iPhone Duo and a new native Mac app, alongside the existing iPhone and iPad versions.

What Cadre does

Cadre looks for problems first and lets you decide what to change. According to the App Store page and the developer’s site:

  • Library Health gives your whole address book a grade from F to A+, based on how complete and consistent it is
  • Duplicates finds repeat entries across iCloud, Google, Exchange and other accounts on your device, comparing names, numbers, emails, companies and addresses
  • Field checks test phone number formatting against the rules of more than 240 countries and territories, and flag likely email and address errors
  • Smart Fixes suggest cleaner names, numbers and addresses that you can apply, edit or ignore one at a time or in a batch
  • Undo lets you restore recent cleanup, and contacts deleted in Cadre can be recovered for up to 30 days
  • Export to vCard or CSV, birthday and anniversary reminders, and Smart Lists that update themselves

The developer stresses that nothing changes automatically: you approve every fix, merge and deletion.

Privacy

Cadre analyses contacts on your device and does not need a Cadre account, according to the developer. It works with your existing Apple Contacts library, so approved changes are saved there.

How to get it, and who it suits

  1. Open the Cadre Contacts page on the App Store.
  2. Check that the price shows as free before you tap Get.
  3. Make a backup inside Cadre before a big cleanup, as the developer suggests.

It suits anyone who has imported contacts from several accounts over the years and ended up with doubles and half filled cards. The developer’s site lists iOS and iPadOS 26 or later as the requirement. The app is in English, French, German and Spanish, and the download is 127.2 MB.
