Pixpipe, an iPhone and iPad app that cuts the background out of product photos, is currently offering its Pro Lifetime upgrade at no cost. The App Store listing shows the Lifetime in-app purchase at $0.00, and the tip site 流動日報 New Mobile Life puts the regular price of that upgrade at US $39.99. No end date has been stated.

What is free

The app itself is a free download, and the Canadian App Store listing shows it as free too. It already has a free tier. According to the developer, that tier covers background removal, a clean white background, a contact shadow, square framing, touch-up and saving to Photos, with up to 5 photos per batch.

The Pro upgrade is the part on offer right now. The developer lists these Pro features: unlimited batch volume, every background style, Brand Kits, batch crop and rename, text or logo watermarks and ZIP export. The listing also shows a Yearly plan at $14.99 and a Monthly plan at $1.99, in US dollars. Lifetime is described as a one-time purchase.

What the app does

Pixpipe is built for resellers and small shops that photograph items with a phone. It lifts the item off its background using Apple’s on-device Vision engine, then places it on a studio-white, neutral, soft gray, custom colour or gradient background. It adds a soft contact shadow and centres the item on a square canvas, the shape most online marketplaces expect.

A touch-up brush lets you erase leftover background or paint parts of the item back before saving. A whole batch can be renamed and exported to Photos, Files, the share sheet or a single ZIP file for desktop upload.

The developer also lists some extras: removing EXIF data such as GPS location, converting between JPEG, PNG and HEIC, adding a border and watermarking. It says everything runs on the device, photos are never uploaded and there are no per-image credits. The privacy label says no data is collected, although Apple notes that this information comes from the developer and has not been verified.

How to get it

  1. Open the Pixpipe page in the App Store and download the app. It needs iOS 17.0 or later on iPhone, or iPadOS 17.0 or later on iPad.
  2. Open the app and go through the first-launch setup until the Pro offer screen appears.
  3. Check the Lifetime price on that screen. According to the tip article, a price of $0 means the offer is still live, and any other price means it has ended, so do not confirm a payment in that case.

What it means for you

For readers in Canada and the United States, the download itself costs nothing, and the Lifetime price on the offer screen is the thing to check. The listing gives the paid plans in US dollars only, and Canadian prices for them were not shown in the sources.

The offer has no stated end date and could finish at any time. If you only photograph a handful of items, the free tier with 5 photos per batch may already be enough. Pro matters mainly if you process bigger batches or want Brand Kits, watermarks and ZIP export. The listing shows English and Simplified Chinese as the app languages.
