The DeWalt 20V MAX XR DCF860 is a brushless, three-speed impact driver, and Amazon’s US store has it at $124.90 in an early Black Friday DeWalt clearance that Bob Vila reported on November 2. Pro Tool Reviews lists the bare tool at $199.99, so the sale price sits well below that, though store prices can change at any time.
The DCF860 is DeWalt’s high torque XR impact driver, sitting above the compact DCF845 and the shorter DCF850. Impact drivers are among the first tools shoppers look for when sales start, so a mid-priced one at a markdown draws attention.
Why is the DCF860 getting attention now?
Bob Vila says Amazon is “clearing out top-rated DeWalt tools ahead of Black Friday”. The list covers drills, saws, batteries and more, and the DCF860 is one of the impact drivers on it. The timing is the reason this model is in the spotlight, not a new release.

What does the DCF860 offer?
According to DeWalt, the DCF860 reaches a maximum torque of 2,500 in-lbs and a no-load speed of 0 to 3,800 RPM. The main specs from DeWalt and Pro Tool Reviews:
- Brushless motor with a variable speed trigger and a 3-speed mode select
- Torque rated at 1,250, 2,150 and 2,500 in-lbs across the three modes, according to Pro Tool Reviews
- 4,500 IPM impact rate and a 1/4 in. quick-connect hex chuck
- 9 built-in LEDs, plus a work light setting that stays on for 20 minutes
- Head length of 4.8 inches and a bare weight of 2.7 lbs, per Pro Tool Reviews
- 3 Year Limited Warranty, 1 Year Free Service and 90 Days Satisfaction Guaranteed
DeWalt says modes 1 and 2 are tuned for self-drilling and tapping screws, which is the kind of job where a gentler first speed helps.

How does it compare with other impact drivers?
Pro Tool Reviews puts it 675 in-lbs above the DCF845 in torque, at the cost of a longer body and a heavier tool, since the DCF845 weighs 2.0 lbs bare. Among the rivals it lists, the Milwaukee 2953 is rated at 2,000 in-lbs, the Makita GDT01 at 1,950 in-lbs and the Flex FX1371A at 2,500 in-lbs, so the DCF860 matches the strongest of that group on torque. If you want the smallest tool for tight spaces, the 4.0 inch DCF850 is the shorter pick.

Prices
DeWalt’s own product pages for the DCF860B and the kit list no price. Here is what the other sources give, all in US dollars:
- Amazon US sale price reported by Bob Vila: $124.90 (DCF860)
- Bare tool, per Pro Tool Reviews: $199.99
- Kit with an 8.0Ah PowerPack battery and charger, per Pro Tool Reviews: $319.99
Bob Vila also shows an earlier price of $199, but that is a store figure, so compare with DeWalt’s list price in your own market. The DCF860B is sold as a bare tool, so batteries and a charger cost extra. The DCF860WW1 kit adds one 8Ah XR battery, a charger, a belt hook and a carrying bag.

Who it suits
Owners of DeWalt 20V MAX batteries get the most from the bare tool, since they already have the batteries and charger and only pay for the driver.
New buyers should look at the kit, because the battery is a large share of the cost and the 8Ah pack is meant for long days of driving fasteners.
Deck builders and framers are the group DeWalt shows in its product photos, working on outdoor builds where high torque and a short head make fastening faster.
Light-duty home users who mostly hang shelves or assemble furniture may be happy with a smaller, lighter driver and can skip the extra torque.
What is still unknown?
Neither DeWalt page lists a price, and Bob Vila does not say when the Amazon clearance ends. Prices and stock in the other countries Amazon serves were not covered by these sources. Check the live Amazon listing before you buy, and read the DeWalt product page for the bare tool or kit you want to confirm what is in the box.
