Google has published a list of the Gemini features that 15 of its Google Student Ambassadors rely on most, posted on October 26, 2026. The students describe using Gemini to study for exams, organize notes, finish projects and learn new material. These are Google’s own picks and the students’ own words, so treat them as examples rather than test results.

Studying and practice

Study notebooks turn uploaded course materials into short, personalized lessons. Nina R. of the University of California, Santa Barbara says they make it faster to refresh her memory on 50-page papers before class.

Gemini can also build study guides from lecture slides or handwritten notes. Jamie C. of the University of Southern California suggests a dedicated Google Drive folder for each class, shared with Gemini.

Quizzes are another favorite. Shuang P. of New York University says extra practice questions matter because many of her grades depend entirely on exams.

Guided Learning takes a different route: it asks open-ended questions instead of handing over answers. Fehmaan K. of George Mason University says he pastes in his work and usually catches his own mistake before Gemini points it out.

Talking, listening and seeing

  • Gemini Live lets you chat by voice, and you can turn on the camera to show it what you are looking at. Skylar E. of San Diego State University uses it to rehearse interviews and presentations.
  • Audio Overviews create podcast-style conversations from documents and slides. Parikshit M. of Rutgers University likes uploading articles with conflicting viewpoints.
  • Nano Banana, Gemini’s image generator, is used for club flyers and social media posts, according to Beverlyn T. of the University of Southern California.

Research and organization

Google says Deep Research can browse up to hundreds of websites and produce multi-page reports in minutes. Annitha K. of San Diego State University uses it for market analyses and literature reviews.

Gemini in Chrome answers questions inside the browser, so Megan J. of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign does not have to paste text into a separate chat.

Connected apps link Gemini to Google Drive, Google Calendar, Gmail and Google Sheets. Students describe having it pull due dates from syllabi into a calendar, log tasks in a tracking sheet and flag emails that need replies.

What it means for readers

Google says its Gemini student plans include unlimited uploads of class materials, study notebooks, interactive visualizations and images. The students interviewed attend US universities, and the article does not say which features are offered in Canada or how they differ by country.

Google’s student pages are regional. The Philippines version, for example, describes a free first year for eligible college students aged 18 and over, with eligibility verified each year. Check the Gemini student page for your own country before counting on any offer.

One tip stands out across the list. Fehmaan advises guessing even when you are unsure, because being corrected tends to stick better than reading an explanation.
