Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 was the most downloaded PS5 game of October 2026 in both the US/Canada and the EU, according to the monthly PlayStation Store charts that Sony Interactive Entertainment published on November 4, 2026. BeamNG.drive landed in the top 3 on both PS5 charts, and Hard Bullet led the PS VR2 lists.
The PlayStation Blog splits its rankings into PS5, PS4, PS VR2 and free-to-play games, and shows US/Canada and the EU side by side. Here is what the charts show, how the two regions differ and what they leave out.
What topped the PS5 download charts?
Modern Warfare 4 took first place on both PS5 lists. Thurrott reports that the shooter, made by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, launched on October 23 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and that it has no PS4 version. The top five on each side looks like this:
| # | US/Canada | EU |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 | Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 |
| 2 | BeamNG.drive | EA Sports FC 27 |
| 3 | EA Sports FC 27 | BeamNG.drive |
| 4 | Phantom Blade Zero | Phantom Blade Zero |
| 5 | Madden NFL 27 | Minecraft |
Phantom Blade Zero holds fourth place in both regions, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer is eighth in both. After that the lists drift apart. Madden NFL 27, College Football 27, Halloween and Marvel’s Wolverine appear only on the US/Canada list, while Mafia III: Definitive Edition, Planet Zoo 2 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt appear only on the EU list. Sony notes that upgrades are not included and that product names may differ between regions.
How did PS4, PS VR2 and free-to-play games rank?
Red Dead Redemption 2 led the PS4 chart in both regions, Hard Bullet led PS VR2 in both, and the free-to-play lists were headed by Once Human in US/Canada and Fortnite in the EU. Here are the top three of each.
PS4 games
| # | US/Canada | EU |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Red Dead Redemption 2 | Red Dead Redemption 2 |
| 2 | Batman: Arkham Knight | EA Sports FC 27 |
| 3 | Gang Beasts | Batman: Arkham Knight |
PS VR2 games
| # | US/Canada | EU |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Hard Bullet | Hard Bullet |
| 2 | Horizon Call of the Mountain | I Am Cat |
| 3 | Into the Radius 2 | Beat Saber |
Free to play (PS5 and PS4)
| # | US/Canada | EU |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Once Human | Fortnite |
| 2 | Call of Duty Warzone | Once Human |
| 3 | Fortnite | Call of Duty Warzone |
Batman: Arkham Knight, Minecraft and Gang Beasts are on both PS4 lists, and Beat Saber, Horizon Call of the Mountain and I Am Cat are in the top 5 of both PS VR2 lists. Fortnite, Once Human, Call of Duty Warzone and Roblox fill the top 4 of the free-to-play lists in both regions, only in a different order. The PS VR2 chart counts PlayStation Store purchases only, so games bundled with hardware and game upgrades are left out.
Prices
The PlayStation Blog post gives no prices, discounts or download counts, so none are quoted here. The titles on the free-to-play lists cost nothing to download, which is what that category means in the post.
For every other game, check the current price on the PlayStation Store in your own region, because the charts only measure downloads. The blog also published a Black Friday Deals 2026 post on November 3, 2026, but this story does not cover its contents.
Who it suits
Shooter fans: Modern Warfare 4 leads both PS5 lists, so it is the safest pick for anyone who wants a game that many other PS5 owners are downloading right now.
Driving and sports fans: BeamNG.drive and EA Sports FC 27 are in the top 3 on both PS5 charts, and Star Wars: Galactic Racer is eighth in both. Readers in US/Canada also see Madden NFL 27, NBA 2K27 and College Football 27 in their rankings.
Families and shared screen players: Minecraft and Minecraft Dungeons II appear on both PS5 lists, It Takes Two is on the EU list, and A Way Out and Gang Beasts are on the PS4 lists.
PS VR2 owners: Hard Bullet is first in both regions. Beat Saber, Horizon Call of the Mountain and I Am Cat are in the top 5 for both, so they are the names to check first.
What do the charts not tell us?
Sony does not publish download counts, so there is no way to tell how close one rank is to the next. The charts cover only US/Canada and the EU, and they leave out game upgrades. A download total also says nothing about how long people keep playing a game.
