Apple has added five languages to Siri AI with the 27.2 software updates, which it released on October 26, 2026. Siri AI now works in French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish, alongside English.
What is new
When iOS 27 launched in September, Siri AI worked only on devices set to English, as MacRumors and 9to5Mac noted when the first iOS 27.2 beta arrived on September 16. The five new languages first appeared in that beta, and the public release now brings them to anyone with a supported device.
Apple describes Siri AI as a rebuilt version of Siri that is more conversational and personal. It is built on Apple Intelligence and, according to Apple, draws on personal context to help you find things across messages, emails and photos. With onscreen awareness it can answer questions or take actions related to what is on your screen, and it can use broad world knowledge to fetch up to date information.
Apple also points to more systemwide app actions, such as drafting an email from scratch or editing and sharing a set of photos.
Still to come
Apple says language support will keep growing. Chinese (traditional), Norwegian, Turkish and Vietnamese are due by the end of the year.
Apple Intelligence itself works with Siri and the device set to a wider list, including Chinese (simplified), Danish, Dutch, German, Italian, Swedish and Turkish. Siri AI is limited to the languages above for now.
Limits to know about
- Siri AI is in beta in iOS 27.2, iPadOS 27.2, macOS 27.2, watchOS 27.2 and visionOS 27.2.
- It needs an Apple Intelligence enabled device set to a supported language.
- It is currently unavailable in the EU on iOS, iPadOS and watchOS. Apple says it is working constructively with the EU to find a path forward.
- It is not available for users under 13.
- Features that rely on server side models, including Siri AI, are subject to daily usage limits. Apple says expanded access will be available for a fee in the future.
What it means for you
Apple’s announcement does not mention Canada or the United States by name, so Canadian availability is not stated separately. The practical step is the same for readers in both countries: update to 27.2 and set Siri and the device language to a supported one. French is on the list, which matters for French speaking users, but Apple does not break the news down by country. Readers who use Chinese (traditional) or Vietnamese will have to wait until later this year.
