Apple released iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 on October 26, 2026. According to MacRumors, it is the first major follow-up to iOS 27 and iPadOS 27, and it pairs new features with a long list of security fixes.
Neither Apple’s pages nor the outlets we checked mention Canada or the US specifically, so there is no separate Canadian or US date or price to report. The one regional limit the sources name is for the new Siri features, which are not available in the EU or mainland China.
What is new
The headline changes are in Siri, according to MacRumors and 9to5Mac:
- Siri can recall past conversations and draws on more sources, including photos in Messages, Calendar attendees, voicemails, and Safari history and Reading List.
- Siri adds French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish.
- A single Excluded Apps setting controls which apps Siri, Search and suggestions can use.
- The new Siri features apply to iPhone 16 models and later, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.
Elsewhere, Messages gets suggested actions based on the conversation, Apple Music gets a new icon, and the Apple TV app adds profiles for household members. Shared Albums in Photos can edit captions and comments, and FaceTime lets you add a third-party sign language interpreter or live captioner to a call. 9to5Mac notes that the redesigned Health app seen in earlier betas is not part of this release.
Security fixes
Apple’s security page for iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 lists well over a hundred CVE entries. Typical entries describe a malicious app that could access Bluetooth without consent, or maliciously crafted web content that could lead to arbitrary code execution. Each entry names the affected component, the impact, a short description of the fix and the researcher credited.
The Chinese-language site New Mobile Life reported that Apple’s updates across all its platforms address 329 vulnerabilities and 1,265 CVE records in total, and said the figures could still rise. We could not confirm those two totals on Apple’s page for iOS and iPadOS, so treat them as that site’s count. Apple’s page does not say any of the listed issues were exploited.
Which devices get it
For most of the listed fixes, Apple’s page names iPhone 11 and later. For iPad, it lists iPad Pro 12.9-inch 4th generation and later, iPad Pro 11-inch 2nd generation and later, iPad Air 4th generation and later, iPad 9th generation and later, and iPad mini 6th generation and later. Some entries are limited to newer hardware, such as iPhone 15 Pro and later. MacRumors adds that Apple also released iOS 26.7.2 with security updates.
What it means for you
Install it soon. On an iPhone or iPad, open Settings > General > Software Update and follow the prompts. Back up first and keep the device charged and on Wi-Fi. Neither outlet gave a download size, so check the size shown on your device.
If you use Siri in French, check the language list on your device after updating, since the sources do not say which regional variants are included.
