Apple released watchOS 27.2 on October 26, 2026, the first major update to watchOS 27. According to MacRumors and Appleosophy, which both cite Apple’s release notes, it extends Siri AI on Apple Watch with conversation recall, more personal sources, a new privacy control and faster responses, and it adds five languages.
What is new in Siri AI
- Past conversations: Siri AI can recall earlier chats, so you can ask about something it suggested before, such as restaurants it recommended.
- More sources: it can draw on photos attached in Messages, attendees of Calendar events, voicemails, and better Safari history and Reading List results from the paired iPhone.
- Excluded Apps: Apple’s notes say it “lets you choose which apps Siri, Search, and suggestions can access, all from one setting on your phone.”
- Speed: Siri AI replies faster on the watch.
- Languages: French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish are added. Apple’s watchOS 27 page lists English plus those five as the initial languages and still labels Siri AI a beta.
Apple also says the update includes other features, bug fixes and security updates without spelling them out. Appleosophy reported that the release notes point to Apple’s security updates page, and that the entries for this release had not yet been posted when it wrote its story.
Limits to know about
MacRumors reports that Siri AI is not available in the EU or mainland China. Apple’s watchOS 27 page adds that it is not initially available in the EU on watchOS and that it may be subject to usage limits.
Siri AI on the watch also relies on the phone. Apple says Apple Watch Series 9 and later, Ultra 2 and later, or SE 3 must be paired with a nearby, compatible iPhone, and that Siri and the device language must be set to a supported language. Appleosophy says the iPhone requirement includes the iPhone 15 Pro and later.
How to install it
Open the Watch app on your iPhone and go to My Watch, then General, then Software Update. You can also use Settings on the watch itself. MacRumors notes that the watch must be on its charger with more than 50 percent battery, and Appleosophy adds that it should be near the paired iPhone.
What it means for you
Readers in Canada should note that none of the sources state Canadian availability or Canadian language details for Siri AI, so check the Software Update screen and Siri language settings on your own devices. The addition of French is the line to look for if you use Siri in French, but the sources do not say where it applies beyond the regions they exclude.
For readers in the United States, English is the language Apple lists for the initial rollout, so the new features are about recall and control rather than a new language. If you are wary of what Siri can see, Excluded Apps is the setting to review first, since it covers Siri, Search and suggestions together.
Apple has not published details on the other fixes in this release, so there is no way to tell from the sources which bugs were addressed. Updating is the simplest route to the security fixes the company says are included.
