The new Apple TV 4K (4th generation) costs $299 in the United States and reaches stores on Friday, November 13, 2026. Apple announced it on October 13, and customers in the US and 29 other countries and regions can pre-order it at apple.com/store and in the Apple Store app.
It swaps in an A19 chip, adds three far-field microphones for hands-free voice control, and lets owners build a four-speaker surround system with HomePod mini 2 for the first time. Here is what Apple says changed and who should care.
What is new in the 4th generation Apple TV 4K?
Apple lists four headline changes: a faster chip, built-in microphones, an updated Siri Remote and a new surround sound setup.
- A19 chip, with up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation
- A dedicated AV1 decoder in the chip for more efficient streaming
- Three far-field microphones, so owners can say “Hey Siri” or “Siri” without picking up the remote
- A Siri Remote with Find My support, Precision Finding and an option to play a sound
- Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and Dolby Atmos support, according to Apple’s product page
Apple’s Bob Borchers, vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, called it “our most immersive home theater experience yet.”
How does the new Siri work on Apple TV 4K?
Apple says Siri now gives a full-screen answer on the TV, with poster art pulled from the Apple TV app and follow-up suggestions. It also takes follow-up questions while a show is playing, such as where a series was filmed.
The new Siri is available at launch in English in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. On Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) it arrives as a beta. Apple says processing can happen on the device or in Private Cloud Compute, and that microphone data is handled in separate protected runtimes called Secure Exclaves.
What does it do for a smart home?
Apple TV 4K remains a home hub, with built-in Wi-Fi and Thread. With a compatible doorbell, a notification appears on the TV so you can see who is at the door, speak to them and unlock the door without leaving the show.
The Home app also gets camera activity descriptions and summarized notifications for HomeKit Secure Video, which Apple says stays end-to-end encrypted.
How does the four-speaker surround setup work?
For the first time, four HomePod mini 2 speakers can pair with Apple TV 4K as a surround system. Apple says the speakers recognize their positions in the room and calibrate timing and levels automatically.
HomePod (2nd generation) speakers also work in this setup, as long as the front and rear pairs match. Apple also lists Whole Room Audio, which spreads sound evenly across four HomePod speakers.
Prices
- Apple TV 4K (4th generation): $299 in the US, or $49.83 per month for six months
- Siri Remote: the new remote is also sold separately, and works with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K
- HomePod mini 2 and HomePod (2nd generation): prices were not stated in the Apple TV announcement
Apple gave only US prices in the release. Customers in the other pre-order countries and regions should check their local Apple Store page for local pricing.
Who it suits
Owners of an older Apple TV 4K. The release does not require an upgrade to try the new Siri, since the beta arrives on the 2nd generation and later. The case for buying is the faster chip and the built-in microphones.
People building a smart home on HomeKit. The hub role, Thread support and doorbell notifications on the TV are the reasons to pick this over a plain streaming stick.
Home theater fans with HomePod speakers. The four-speaker surround setup needs HomePod mini 2 or matching HomePod (2nd generation) pairs, so the real cost is the speakers as well.
Who should wait. Anyone who only wants a basic streaming box, or who lives outside the countries where the new Siri launches in English.
What is still unknown?
Apple’s release gives a US price only, and it does not list HomePod mini 2 pricing. The Siri Remote price is also not stated. Check apple.com/store before November 13 for your country’s price and delivery date.
