Amazon in the United States is selling the 2026 Sonos Play portable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth speaker for $209.30 shipped, according to 9to5Toys on November 7, 2026. Sonos lists the speaker at $299 on its own US store, so the Amazon price is nearly $90 lower. These are prices at the time of writing and can change at any time.

Sonos launched the Play on March 31, 2026, as a portable speaker that comes with a charging base. It sits between the Move 2 at $489.99 and the Roam 2 at $179 in the Sonos range, according to 9to5Mac.

What does the Sonos Play offer?

Sonos lists these features on its product page:

  • Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with Apple AirPlay 2
  • 24 hour battery life
  • Waterproof and dustproof, with an IP67 rating, and drop resistant
  • Included charging base
  • Automatic Trueplay tuning
  • Voice control, button controls and line in support
  • A battery that can be replaced
  • USB-C charging, plus the ability to keep a phone powered over a USB-C cable

9to5Toys adds that the speaker has a removable utility loop and a built in power bank, and that it runs indefinitely when it sits on the charging base. It also said that, away from home, you can group up to three additional Sonos Play or Move 2 speakers directly from a Bluetooth connection.

What is in the box?

Sonos lists the Sonos Play, the Charging Base and a set up guide with legal and warranty information. There is a catch: the Charging Base needs a USB-C/PD compatible power adapter of 18W or greater, and Sonos sells it separately. Budget for an adapter if you do not already own one.

How does it fit the Sonos range?

Sonos describes the Play as a portable, waterproof speaker built for home and beyond, with stereo sound that moves from room to room and out the door. In price it sits between the Roam 2 at $179 and the Move 2 at $489.99, so the Amazon figure puts it closer to the cheaper end of the portable line.

The Play comes with the charging base in the box, which keeps it charged when it is at home.

Prices

  • Amazon, United States: $209.30 shipped, as reported by 9to5Toys on November 7, 2026
  • Sonos, United States: $299, in Black, White and Sand

9to5Toys calls the Amazon price nearly $90 off, which it puts at 30% off, and says it is the lowest price the site has tracked on the 2026 model. It added that the speaker was still full price on the official Sonos site and that Best Buy had a short offer at $270 this summer, along with some early open box discounts. We could not load the Amazon page directly when we checked, so treat the Amazon figure as reported at the time of writing and confirm it on the listing. The sources give no end date.

Who it suits

Apple users who want AirPlay 2. The speaker supports AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth, so it works with a phone away from home and with Wi-Fi at home.

People who move music around the house. With the charging base, 24 hours of battery on the go and an IP67 rating, it can move from the kitchen to the patio or the beach without a separate speaker.

Existing Sonos owners. Sonos says the Play connects to a Sonos system over Wi-Fi, so it can join a multi room setup alongside other Sonos speakers.

Who should wait. Anyone who needs a speaker with a built in power adapter should note that the charging base needs a separate 18W USB-C adapter. Buyers outside the United States should check their local Amazon store, because the $209.30 figure applies to the US store.

What is still unknown

The sources do not say which colours are included in the $209.30 price, how many units are available or when the price ends, and Amazon’s own page could not be loaded for this check.

Open the Amazon listing before you buy, check the colour and the price shown, and compare it with the $299 on the Sonos store.
