Wonderful Neoran Valley, a single-player monster collector with turn-based, PvE combat, is now on Steam as a wishlist page and is aimed at a 2028 launch. Developer Nara Studio says the game will come to PC through Steam, PlayStation 5 and Switch 2.

The studio showed a new trailer called “Welcome to the Valley” on October 27. It is the clearest look yet at a project that raised €923,091 on Kickstarter against a goal of €100,000, according to Gematsu.

What is Wonderful Neoran Valley?

It is a narrative-driven roguelite where you collect creatures called Neoran. Steam describes them as beings that can speak, feel emotions and chase goals of their own, so you recruit them through dialogue instead of simply catching them.

The Steam page lists the game as single-player, with Steam Achievements and Family Sharing. Its tags include Roguelike, Creature Collector, Turn-Based Strategy, Story Rich and PvE, and the genres are Adventure, Indie and Strategy.

The story centres on the Valley, where Steam says Neura Clusters are corrupting the land. Players piece together what is happening over several runs rather than in one pass.

How does combat work?

Battles are turn-based, and the hook is planning. According to the Steam description, the Knight’s power reveals the next seven turns, so you can line up how your Neoran abilities combine before anything happens.

The main points from the store page and Gematsu:

  • 85 Neoran to meet, each with a personality and emotions
  • A seven-turn timeline that previews upcoming turns
  • Ability synergies between creatures
  • Runs through different biomes, with worldbuilding revealed through encounters and conversations
  • A low-poly 3D look that mixes a playful style with horror inspired by VHS tapes

What is in the new trailer?

“Welcome to the Valley” focuses on the first meeting between the Knight and the dragon Iris. Gematsu reports that Troy Baker voices the Knight and Ben Starr voices Iris.

The Steam page lists English as the only language with full audio. The interface and subtitles are offered in English, French, Italian, Spanish (Spain) and Japanese, and the page’s language selector shows more languages, including Chinese, Korean, German and Russian.

When does it launch, and on what?

Gematsu gives 2028 as the release window, with no exact date. The platforms it names are PlayStation 5, Switch 2 and PC through Steam. The Steam page itself says only “coming soon” and does not list the console versions.

For PC players, the page shows a minimum of 8 GB of RAM, DirectX 12 and 20 GB of storage. The operating system, processor and graphics fields are blank, so there is no real hardware guide yet.

Prices

No price has been announced in Canada, the United States or anywhere else. The Steam page shows no price, and the game cannot be bought yet. The only thing to do today is add it to your Steam wishlist. Canadian dollar and US dollar pricing will matter once it is set, but nothing is confirmed.

The €100,000 Kickstarter goal and the €923,091 total were crowdfunding figures in euros, and they are not a guide to the retail price.

Who it suits

Fans of creature collectors who want a story. The game leans on dialogue and personality, so it should appeal to players who care about who their team is, not only about stats.

Roguelite and tactics players. Seven visible turns and ability combinations point to a puzzle-like battle system where planning matters more than reflexes.

Players who like a darker edge. The VHS-inspired horror and the corrupted Valley mean this is not a purely cheerful monster game, even though the art is colourful.

Console owners. If you play on PlayStation 5 or Switch 2, note that those platforms come from Gematsu’s report and are not yet shown on the Steam page.

What is still unknown

The exact release date, the price in any currency, Canadian and US retailers for the console versions, and full PC hardware requirements have not been published. The Steam page also lists no trailer of its own, so the video is the main preview for now.

Next step

Open the Steam page for Wonderful Neoran Valley and add it to your wishlist, so Steam tells you when a release date and a price appear. Watch the Nara Studio channels for the date, since 2028 is still only a window.
