Pocketpair CEO Takuro Mizobe says he would welcome a Palworld version for Nintendo Switch 2, even though his studio is in a legal dispute with Nintendo. He made the comments in an interview with Video Games Chronicle, which was published on 27 October 2026 and picked up by GamesRadar.
No Switch 2 version has been announced, and no release date or price has been given for Canada, the United States or anywhere else.
What the CEO said
VGC asked Mizobe whether a Switch 2 port is a real possibility now that the console’s specs are known. He answered “Of course,” according to VGC.
He described the Switch 2 as a really amazing platform, particularly in Japan and for the Japanese games industry. He added that if there were ever a chance to discuss bringing Palworld to Switch in some form, “we’d love to have those conversations,” VGC reported.
That is an expression of interest, not a plan. Neither outlet reports a port in development or a deal with Nintendo.
How the stance has changed
According to VGC, Mizobe said in June 2024, before the game launched, that a Switch release was unlikely because of the console’s technical limits.
In March 2025, Pocketpair communications director John Buckley told IGN that Palworld was a demanding game that could not run on the original Switch. He said a Switch 2 port was “100% worth considering” if the new hardware proved powerful enough, VGC noted. GamesRadar also recalled that earlier remark.
The lawsuit in the background
VGC reports that Nintendo filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Pocketpair in September 2024. GamesRadar describes the plaintiffs as Nintendo and The Pokémon Company. Pocketpair has not been found liable for anything in the reporting we reviewed, and the case is still active.
VGC says the suit was narrowed in November 2025 to cover older versions of the game. Pocketpair had by then removed two contested mechanics: throwing a Pal Sphere to summon a Pal, and gliding with a Pal.
Mizobe did not discuss the case in the interview because it is ongoing, VGC says. The outlet adds that the Tokyo District Court is set to disclose its preliminary view on November 9, and that a Switch 2 release would likely depend on the dispute being resolved.
GamesRadar points out that Pocketpair has still released a game on a Nintendo platform: the roguelike tower defense and card game Overdungeon arrived on Switch at the start of last year.
What it means for readers
For players in Canada and the United States, nothing changes today. Palworld has not been confirmed for any Nintendo console, and the studio has not said when it might be.
The next thing to watch is the Tokyo District Court’s preliminary view on November 9, which may shape what is possible. Until Pocketpair or Nintendo says more, treat a Switch 2 version as an open question rather than a coming release.
