Todo-Cat, a to-do list app for iPhone and iPad with a cartoon cat as its mascot, is currently listed as free on the App Store. The Hong Kong tech site New Mobile Life reported that the app normally costs US $0.99 and is on a limited-time free offer. The App Store listing itself shows the price as Free at the time of writing.
What is free
The app itself is the offer: the listing shows Free, and the listing text we read mentions no paid tiers. Neither the App Store page nor New Mobile Life gives an end date for the offer, so it could change at any time. If you want it, claim it soon.
Todo-Cat is built for iPhone and iPad. The App Store page also lists support for Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later and for Apple Vision.
What the app does
According to the developer’s description, Todo-Cat is meant to keep work, household chores and study plans in one place.
- Add tasks, then edit, complete or delete them.
- Set one-time reminders, or repeat them daily, weekly, monthly, yearly or at a custom interval. Future notifications stop when you complete a task.
- Tap the paw to start a 25-minute focus countdown. The length can be changed, and on supported devices the remaining time shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
- Use cartoon widgets and StandBy support to keep your list in view.
- The interface comes in English, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
The listing says the cat companion has lifelike breathing and natural blinks. The most recent update, version 1.6.2, is described as adding swipe actions, pinned tasks and widget shortcuts to complete tasks.
How to get it
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and search for Todo-Cat, or use the developer’s listing on apps.apple.com.
- Check that the price on the page reads Free.
- Tap Get and sign in with your Apple account if asked.
The listing says the app needs iOS 14.0 or later, iPadOS 14.0 or later, or macOS 11.0 or later on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later. The developer states that it does not collect any data from the app, a claim the page says Apple has not verified.
What it means for you
This is a small saving of US $0.99, so the real question is whether you want a cute, simple task list with a focus timer. If you already use a full task manager, Todo-Cat is more of a light companion than a replacement.
The store page we read was the US storefront. Canadian pricing is not stated in the sources, so check the price shown in your own App Store before you tap Get. Offers like this can end without notice, and a free download is usually kept in your Apple account for later.
