Fokuso, a focus timer for iPhone and iPad that rewards your work sessions with pieces for a small 3D island, is currently listed as free on Apple’s App Store. The Hong Kong deal site New Mobile Life spotted the offer and reported that the app normally sells for US $9.99. Neither the developer nor the store listing says when the free period ends.

The app comes from independent developer Huseyin Bicen. The store listing describes it as having no account, no ads and no subscription, and it works fully offline.

How the timer works

Fokuso offers several ways to time your work, so it fits different habits:

  • Timer for a single block of focused time
  • Pomodoro for focus rounds with automatic short and long breaks
  • Flow, which counts up until you decide to stop
  • Intervals and Open sessions for your own patterns

Sessions can last anywhere from 1 to 480 minutes, with quick buttons for 25, 50 or 90. You can pause without losing time, add 5 minutes or finish early, and short sessions still count. There are ten ready made routines such as Study, Deep Work, Reading, Writing and Coding Flow, and you can build your own with custom breaks and a background soundscape.

The island part

Every focused minute earns a currency called Pomo. You spend it on cabins, lanterns, ponds, trees and extra land for your island. The listing mentions 45 handcrafted pieces, with 8 starter pieces free and Pomodoro rounds earning 1.5x. Land can grow from 8x8 up to 24x24, and you can change the time of day and the weather. Nothing on the island withers if you stop a session early.

Other features include layered ambient sounds such as rain, ocean and fireplace, guided break ideas like stretching or a short walk, a simple task list with goals, focus statistics and a weekly reflection.

How to get it

  1. Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and search for “Fokuso: Focus Timer & Pomodoro” by Huseyin Bicen.
  2. Check that the price shows as free before you tap Get.
  3. Once claimed, the app stays in your purchase history.

The listing says it needs iOS 18.6 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 18.6 or later on iPad. It is also listed for Macs with an Apple M1 chip or later running macOS 15.6, and for Apple Vision on visionOS 2.6, though the Mac version is marked as not verified for macOS. The app is 19.2 MB and is available in English only.

What it means for you

If you study, work from home or simply get distracted easily, this is a low risk way to try a structured focus routine. The developer states on the listing that it collects no data, and everything stays on your device, with a backup file you can export.

Keep in mind that the US $9.99 regular price comes from New Mobile Life, and the offer was confirmed on the App Store listing rather than in an announcement from the developer. Prices and availability can differ by country, the Canadian price was not stated in the sources, and limited time offers can end without notice, so check the price before you download.
