BMW M Motorsport will enter three BMW M4 GT3 EVO race cars in the FIA GT World Cup in Macau, the event that closes the GT3 racing season. BMW Group announced the line up on October 13, 2026. Team WRT and Team KRC will run the cars on the Guia Circuit, the street track that winds through Macau, with the races set for November 21 and 22.
Who is driving
All three drivers are BMW M works drivers:
- Kelvin van der Linde of South Africa, with Team WRT, making his Macau debut for BMW M Motorsport
- Raffaele Marciello of Switzerland, in the second Team WRT car
- Augusto Farfus of Brazil, with Team KRC
Van der Linde last raced in Macau in 2019, so this will be only his second start there. As in the DTM, his car will carry the colours of Shell, one of BMW’s premium technology partners. BMW says that livery will be revealed at a later date.
A strong record, but no recent win
Marciello is chasing a third Macau victory after winning the main race in 2019 and 2023. According to BMW, he won the qualification race in 2024 and was fighting for the lead near the end of the main race when he had to retire. He finished second in 2025.
Farfus won in Macau in 2018 and finished second in the main race in 2024. He comes back with Team KRC after sitting out last year’s event, and he told BMW he has reached the podium in each of his recent starts there.
Andreas Roos, head of BMW M Motorsport, said the team is even more determined to win this time after strong runs in recent years ended without a main race victory. “The GT3 season finale always has a very special atmosphere and is simply fantastic as a standalone event,” he said.
About the event
The FIA lists this year’s race as the ninth edition of the FIA GT World Cup, a contest that began in 2015. The main field is made up of drivers with Gold and Platinum ratings, the two highest levels in the FIA driver ranking system.
New this year is a Silver Cup for the best Silver rated driver in Macau. The FIA says the winner gets a dedicated podium ceremony and a share of a prize fund totalling USD 22,000. The Macau weekend also includes the FIA FR World Cup and the FIA F4 World Cup for younger single seater drivers.
What it means for fans
Macau is one of the few places each year where the M4 GT3 EVO races rival GT3 cars on a true street circuit lined with walls, where one small mistake can end a race. With two former winners and a first timer for the brand, BMW is clearly aiming for the top step after near misses in 2024 and 2025.
Broadcast and streaming details for Canada were not part of either announcement, so check the official FIA and BMW M Motorsport channels as race weekend gets closer.
