BMW has introduced the iX3 M60 xDrive, the most powerful version yet of its electric iX3 SUV. The company announced it on October 7, saying orders will open at the end of January 2027 and production will start at its plant in Debrecen, Hungary, in spring 2027.
Performance and range
The M60 uses a motor on each axle. A new electrically excited motor at the rear and a stronger inverter, rated at 420 A instead of 300 A, are behind the extra power.
- Output: 450 kW/612 hp
- Torque: 875 Nm
- 0 to 100 km/h: 3.9 seconds
- Top speed: 240 km/h
- Battery: 108.7 kWh usable
- Range: up to 754 km on the WLTP cycle
- DC charging: up to 400 kW, adding up to 340 km of range in ten minutes, according to BMW
- AC charging: up to 22 kW, standard
BMW lists combined consumption of 17.6 to 20.5 kWh/100 km on the WLTP cycle. Several figures are marked as provisional.
How it stands apart
Standard equipment leans sporty. The M60 comes with adaptive M suspension, variable sport steering and an M Sport differential. Drivers get shift paddles to adjust how the motors respond, plus dedicated buttons on the steering wheel for Boost Mode and M Mode.
Outside, new M Yellow Lights sit at the front, inspired by BMW’s race cars. The car rides on 21 inch M wheels as standard, with 22 inch options, and adds a roof edge spoiler with two aero blades. BMW offers 25 special request paint colours at launch.
Inside, there are M Sport seats with massage and illuminated M logos, a 17.9 inch central display angled toward the driver, and a 13 speaker, 430 watt Harman Kardon system with Dolby Atmos.
What it means for you
The iX3 M60 is aimed at buyers who want an electric family SUV with sports car acceleration. Its 3.9 second sprint to 100 km/h is quick for a family SUV, and the 400 kW charging rate means short stops on long drives, provided you can find a charger that fast.
Keep in mind that the range figure follows the European WLTP test, and BMW says its equipment and data refer to the German market. BMW has not announced Canadian pricing or when the M60 will reach North American showrooms. With orders opening in early 2027 and production starting in the spring, buyers here should expect more details closer to that date.
