The Dreo Atom 316 (model DR-HSH006), a compact 1500W ceramic space heater, is listed at C$58.49 on Amazon.ca at the time of writing and ranks first in Electric Space Heaters there. Heating season is starting, and this small heater is moving fast on Amazon.ca.
Dreo, the maker, sells the same heater on its own site as the Atom 316 for US$39.99 (sale price). The Amazon.ca listing shows 20,370 ratings averaging 4.5 out of 5 and says 1K+ bought in the past week.
Why is this heater trending now?
It is cheap, it is small, and the weather is turning. Amazon.ca lists it as number 1 in Electric Space Heaters and number 26 in Home overall, which is a lot of traffic for a heater.
It is not new. Men’s Journal wrote on January 10, 2026 that it was Amazon’s No. 1 bestselling model in the United States, citing nearly 13,500 five star ratings and over 60,000 units sold in the previous month. What changed is the season: shoppers who skipped it last winter are buying now.

What are the specs?
Dreo’s own page and the Amazon.ca listing agree on the main points:
- Output: 1500 Watts, for about 200 sq. ft. of heating coverage according to Dreo
- Modes: Power Heat, ECO and Fan Only, with 4 speeds listed by Dreo
- Thermostat: 41°F to 95°F in 1°F steps (5 to 35 degrees C on the Amazon.ca listing)
- Timer: 1 to 12 hours
- Safety: tip over protection, overheat protection, child lock, flame resistant material, ETL certification
- Size and weight: 15.3 x 15.3 x 24.5 centimetres and 1.38 kg
- Colours: Gold, Black, Silver and White
- No oscillation: it blows at a fixed angle
Dreo says its Hyperamics heating system gives up to 200% longer heat range than traditional heaters and quotes a fan noise of 34 dB. Those are the maker’s figures, based on its own tests.

What did independent testing find?
Trusted Reviews tested the Atom 316 and called it “surprisingly effective” for small and even medium rooms. Room air rose from 17.6°C to 22.4°C in 30 minutes on maximum, and the heater drew 1.5kWh over an hour at full power. Eco mode used 0.51kWh in the same hour.
The reviewer measured 47.9dB at 15cm and 44dB at 1m on maximum, which is higher than Dreo’s 34 dB claim. The two numbers come from different methods, so treat 34 dB as the maker’s best case. Trusted Reviews also noted hard to read buttons, a weak fan and no smart controls or open window detection.
How much does it cost in Canada and the US?
On Amazon.ca the Gold model is C$58.49, against a list price of C$64.99 shown on the listing. Other colours can be priced differently, so check the colour you want.
In the US, Dreo lists US$39.99 on its site, and Men’s Journal reported $39 at Amazon in January, with gold $1 more. Dreo has not shown a Canadian dollar price on the product page we read. Prices at the time of writing can change at any time.

Who it suits
Home office and bedroom users. The 1500W output and thermostat suit a single room, and Trusted Reviews found it effective in small to medium rooms.
Renters and basement dwellers. At 1.38 kg with a plug and a handle, it moves easily from room to room, and it needs no installation.
Anyone who wants a breeze or wide coverage. Skip it. The fan is weak by the reviewer’s measure and there is no oscillation, so Dreo’s 70 degree oscillating 1500W model at C$74.99 on Amazon.ca is the better fit.
Whole room heating. A 1500W fan heater is not a furnace replacement. The De’Longhi oil filled radiator, at C$149.00 on Amazon.ca, heats more slowly but is built for longer runs.
What is still unknown?
Dreo’s product page lists a remote as a feature but not in the box contents, while the Amazon.ca title includes one. Check the listing for the colour you pick before you order. Long term reliability is also not covered by the sources, and the Amazon price is a snapshot.
Next step: open the Amazon.ca listing, confirm the colour and price, and read Dreo’s safety instructions on its product page before plugging it in.
