Google Play will run Play Fest, a week of sweepstakes, gaming leagues and discounts, from October 13 to 19. Google announced the event on October 8, 2026, calling it one of the most rewarding weeks of the year for people who buy apps, games and books on Android.
There is an important catch for Canadian readers. Google says Play Fest is available in select markets, and the sweepstakes is open only to select Play Points members in the U.S. who are 18 or older. Google has not said which deals or leagues will be offered in Canada.
Sweepstakes prizes
Play Points members can trade their points for sweepstakes entries from a Play Fest page on an Android phone or tablet. Google says thousands of prizes are available, and it previewed a few of the bigger ones:
- A 1:1 scale replica of Oscar Piastri’s 2026 season racing helmet, made by Bell
- A Razer Boomslang 20th Anniversary Edition gaming mouse
- XREAL AURA glasses, which Google describes as standalone Android XR glasses
- A Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra foldable phone
- A Samsung 55” S90H OLED TV with a 165Hz refresh rate
Entering more times improves your odds, and larger entry bundles come with extra bonuses. No purchase is necessary, and Google’s official rules include a free way to enter.
Gaming leagues
Pre-registration is open now for leagues in Angry Birds 2, Free Fire and 8 Ball Pool. Matches start on October 13, and players compete on global leaderboards for up to 50,000 Play Points in each league.
Deals during the week
Google says discounts and point multipliers will run across the Play catalogue:
- Apps and games: deals on popular titles, in game rewards in MONOPOLY GO! and Pokémon GO, and limited savings on annual Crunchyroll and Calm subscriptions.
- Play Points: members get daily point boosters on purchases, and new members can join for free and earn bonus points by completing a quest.
- Gift cards: limited time deals on select digital gift cards, including Disney, while supplies last.
- Play Pass: subscribers get early access, double points and 6x boosters.
- Books: ebooks and audiobooks under $6, plus a 15x points multiplier on book purchases from October 16 to 18.
Offers end on October 19 or while supplies last.
What it means for you
If you are in the U.S. and already collect Play Points, this is a good week to spend them, especially on books during the 15x window. For readers in Canada, the picture is less clear. The sweepstakes is U.S. only, and Google has not confirmed which deals or leagues will appear in Canadian Play Stores. The simplest way to check is to open the Play Store on your Android device once the event starts on October 13 and look for the Play Fest banner. If you plan to buy a subscription or a book anyway, waiting until that week costs nothing.
