The Amazon Alexa Tablet 11 is one of the most talked about tablets this month, and the reason is simple: it is the first Amazon tablet line that runs Android with the full Google Play Store. Amazon says the Alexa Tablet 11 starts at $329.99 with 8GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It went on sale and started shipping on October 14, 2026, in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
Why it is getting attention
Amazon’s older Fire tablets ran Fire OS, which meant no Google apps from the Google Play Store. The new Alexa Tablets drop that limit. Amazon says owners get YouTube, Netflix, Gmail and Google Docs from Google Play, next to its own Prime Video, Kindle, Audible and Amazon Music apps. TechCrunch reported that Amazon calls this a new product line rather than renamed Fire tablets. Arriving ahead of the holiday season helps too.
What you get
According to Amazon and Notebookcheck:
- 11 inch 2.5K display at 276 pixels per inch, with 90Hz scrolling and a 16:10 shape
- 8 core processor and 8GB of RAM, with 64GB or 128GB of storage
- Dual Dolby Atmos speakers and up to 15 hours of video playback
- A Kindle reading mode that silences notifications and, per TechCrunch, lasts up to 20 hours in the Kindle app
- Alexa+ built in, with a feature that can look at what is on screen to help
- Graphite, Amethyst and Matcha colors
Who should buy it, and who should skip it
It suits people who want a big screen for streaming, reading and casual games, and who live in Amazon’s world of Prime Video, Kindle and Alexa but also need Google apps. Families may like the separate Kids Tablet versions Amazon sells.
Skip it if you want a work machine with a laptop style keyboard and pen; that is the role of the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro, from $499.99. If you mostly read and watch on the go, the smaller Alexa Tablet 8 starts at $229.99 and is the obvious cheaper alternative.
Best Buy and Target also carry the lineup, according to Amazon.
