World of Warcraft: Forever went live worldwide on November 4, 2026, and anyone with an active World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time can play it without buying a separate game. Blizzard describes it as a new permanent home for WoW, sitting alongside modern WoW and Classic.

What is WoW Forever?

According to Blizzard, Forever is set after the Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom story and before Molten Core. Players return to the original continents and level up to a cap of 60. FinalBoss calls it a permanent Classic+ branch that expands the original-era world, with progression frozen at level 60 instead of being pushed higher by later expansions.

Blizzard gave the launch time as 3:00 p.m., but its own post names both PDT and PST without saying which one applies. Check the time in your own region before you plan your evening.

What is in it at launch?

FinalBoss lists the launch content this way:

  • Three new zones, with Mount Hyjal and Zephras Isle named among the expanded areas
  • More than 1,000 quests
  • Nine dungeons
  • Two raids, built for groups of 10 and 20 players
  • Skyborne Elves as a new playable race
  • Improved world visuals and lighting

Blizzard’s edition notes add that the Skyborne race starts on Zephras Isle, which gives new characters their own opening experience.

Prices: how much does it cost?

None of the sources gives a price for WoW Forever itself. Blizzard says access is included with a World of Warcraft subscription or Game Time, and no subscription price appears in the pages we read, so we are not quoting one.

Blizzard also sold pre-purchase editions in the Battle.net Shop, again with no price in the sources:

  • Skyborne Heroic Pack: the Skyborne race, the Zephras Isle starting experience, early name reservation, the Cerulean Prideclaw ground mount (riding skill is bought in game), cosmetics, housing decor and one Invite-A-Friend Launch Code.
  • Skyborne Epic Pack: everything above, plus beta access, 30 days of Game Time starting November 4, more cosmetics, pets and tabards, and three Invite-A-Friend Launch Codes in total.
  • Warcraft Forever Collection: a limited-time bundle with everything in the Epic Pack, plus Warcraft III: Reforged, the Forsaken Kingdom campaign and two housing decor figurines for modern WoW.

A physical Collector’s Edition is sold through the Blizzard Gear Store while supplies last.

How did the run-up go?

The gated beta began on September 17 for owners of the Skyborne Epic Pack or the Warcraft Forever Collection. In October, according to PC Gamer, Blizzard opened a stress test to every World of Warcraft account, with no subscription or special edition needed. Everyone started fresh, so only the first couple of leveling zones were playable, and the regular beta servers were offline during the test.

PC Gamer also expected long queues and crowded zones on launch day, with quest enemies dying quickly as subscribers piled in. We have not confirmed official figures on queue lengths or server stability since launch, so treat any claim about how smoothly day one went as unverified until Blizzard reports it.

Who it suits

Returning players who remember the original game get the most obvious pitch: the old continents, a level 60 ceiling and no need to buy another box if the subscription is already active.

Classic fans who wanted more are the target of the Classic+ approach, with new zones, dungeons and two raids layered on top of the original-era world.

Newcomers can try it cheaply in one sense, since the stress test showed Blizzard is comfortable letting anyone with a WoW account in for short sessions, but a full run needs a subscription or Game Time.

Collectors and group players may care about the Collector’s Edition and the Invite-A-Friend codes included in the packs.

What is still unknown?

The sources do not give prices for the packs or the physical edition, the specific rulesets beyond the level cap, a schedule for later phases, or realm names and counts. Blizzard’s own post also mixes PDT and PST for the start time.

Next step: open the Battle.net launcher to see your local start time and queue status, and read Blizzard’s official WoW Forever page for the latest notes before you subscribe or buy a pack.
