Amazon.ca lists the JBL Tune 770NC noise cancelling headphones at $79.98 in Canadian dollars at the time of writing, against a list price of $189.98 on JBL’s Canadian site. Amazon shows that as 58 percent off, and the Purple version we checked is shipped and sold by Amazon.ca.
The Tune 770NC is an over ear Bluetooth model with adaptive noise cancelling, rated by JBL for up to 70 hours of music with noise cancelling off. We checked the listing on October 27, and Amazon.ca showed no end date, so the price can change at any time.
What do the JBL Tune 770NC headphones offer?
JBL describes them as lightweight, flat folding headphones with JBL Pure Bass Sound. These are the main specifications from JBL:
- Drivers: 40 mm
- Noise cancelling: adaptive, with Ambient Aware and TalkThru modes set in the JBL Headphones app
- Battery: up to 70 hours of music with ANC off and 44 hours with ANC on
- Talk time: 39 hours
- Charging: 2 hours for a full charge over USB C, and a 5 minute speed charge gives 3 additional hours of music
- Bluetooth: 5.3, with LE Audio listed as coming through an update at a later stage
- Multipoint: connects to two Bluetooth devices at once
- Weight: 232 g
- In the box: USB C charging cable, detachable audio cable, quick start guide and warranty document
JBL says the 70 hour figure is measured with ANC off, so plan on the lower 44 hour figure if you keep noise cancelling on all day. The free JBL Headphones app adds EQ presets, a custom EQ curve and voice prompts.
How do reviewers rate them?
TechRadar called the Tune 770NC reliable and said it sounds good for the price. Its listed pros were good noise cancelling for the money, great battery life and a lightweight build. Its cons were no wear detection, a plain look and ear cups that can get sweaty. TechRadar reviewed the headphones after their August 2023 release, when the official UK price was £119.99, so its verdict predates this sale.
TechRadar also pointed to the cheaper on ear JBL Tune 670NC as the weaker option for noise cancelling and sound.
Prices in Canada and the United States
These are prices at the time of writing, checked on October 27:
- Amazon.ca, Purple: $79.98, shown as 58 percent off a $189.98 list price
- JBL Canada: $79.98, with $189.98 struck through and Save 58% shown
Colour matters on Amazon.ca. On the same model the White version showed $79.98, the Blue version $79.88 from a third party seller, and the Black version $159.50. Do not assume every colour carries the sale. JBL’s own Canadian store showing the same $79.98 means Amazon.ca is matching the maker rather than undercutting it.
We did not check a United States price, so readers in the US should look at amazon.com and JBL’s US page. Prices can change at any time.
Who it suits
Commuters and students. Adaptive noise cancelling and a 44 hour battery with ANC on cover a week of daily travel on a single charge for many people, and the 5 minute speed charge helps on a rushed morning.
Remote workers. Multipoint lets the headphones stay connected to a laptop and a phone at once, and JBL lists hands free calls and voice assistant support.
Budget shoppers who want over ear comfort. The 232 g weight is light for an over ear model, and the flat folding design packs away easily. Amazon.ca also lists a pricier JBL Live 770NC for readers who want a step up.
Who should wait. If you want wear detection or a more stylish look, TechRadar noted both are missing here. If you want a Black pair, the price shown on Amazon.ca was much higher than the other colours when we checked.
What is still unknown
Amazon.ca does not say when the price ends or how many units remain. JBL says LE Audio will arrive in a later update, with no date. We have not tested the headphones, and JBL’s battery and charging figures are its own claims.
What to do next
Open the Amazon.ca listing, pick the colour you want and read the price for that exact colour before you order. Then compare it with JBL Canada’s page, which shows the same model and the maker’s list price.
