Amazon.ca lists the JBL Tune 670NC on ear noise cancelling headphones at $49.98 in Canadian dollars at the time of writing, against a list price of $139.98 on JBL’s Canadian site. Amazon shows that as 64 percent off, and the Purple version we checked is shipped and sold by Amazon.ca.
JBL rates the Tune 670NC for up to 70 hours of battery life, and the headphones fold flat. We checked the listing on October 27, and Amazon.ca showed no end date, so the price can change at any time.
What do the JBL Tune 670NC headphones offer?
JBL describes adaptive noise cancelling wireless headphones with JBL Pure Bass Sound that can be tuned in the free JBL Headphones app. The reviewer at Expert Reviews listed these specifications, which line up with JBL’s claims:
- Type: on ear, launched in September 2023 alongside the Tune 770NC
- Drivers: 32mm
- Weight: 177g
- Bluetooth: 5.3 with LE Audio and multipoint, with SBC and AAC codecs
- Battery: 70 hours with ANC off and 44 hours with ANC on
- Charging: USB C, and a five minute charge gives three hours
- Wired use: 3.5mm port with a 120cm audio cable included
- App: JBL Headphones, with a ten band graphic EQ and six presets
Amazon’s listing adds Ambient Aware and TalkThru modes, which let outside sound in, plus hands free calls through VoiceAware.
What are the drawbacks?
Expert Reviews was blunt about comfort. Its reviewer said his ears ached after under an hour, that the headphones feel cheap and that no carrying case is included. He also found the soundstage narrow and the stereo imaging weak, though he praised the battery life, the effective noise cancelling for an on ear model and the easy to use app.
His overall verdict was that they are affordable on ear headphones that will serve daily commuters reasonably well, but that better value over ear options suit most buyers better. His review priced the headphones at £90 at launch, so it predates this sale. TechRadar, in its Tune 770NC review, also called the 670NC the weaker pick for noise cancelling and sound.
Prices in Canada and the United States
These are prices at the time of writing, checked on October 27:
- Amazon.ca, Purple: $49.98, shown as 64 percent off a $139.98 list price
- JBL Canada: $49.98, with $139.98 struck through and Save 64% shown
- For comparison, JBL Canada priced the over ear Tune 770NC at $79.98 against $189.98
Colour matters on Amazon.ca. On the same model the White version showed $49.98, the Blue version $49.98 from a third party seller and the Black version $69.98. JBL’s own Canadian store shows the same $49.98, so Amazon.ca matches the maker rather than undercutting it.
We did not check a United States price, so readers in the US should look at amazon.com and JBL’s US page. Prices can change at any time.
Who it suits
Commuters. The 70 hour rating with ANC off and 44 hours with ANC on means long gaps between charges, and the flat folding design slips into a bag. The reviewer at Expert Reviews said the noise cancelling is effective for an on ear pair.
Students and gift buyers on a tight budget. At $49.98 it costs less than the over ear Tune 770NC on the same JBL Canada site, and the free app lets you adjust the sound.
Light listeners. The 177g weight is low, but on ear pads press on the ears, so try short sessions first. If you listen for hours at a time, Expert Reviews suggests an over ear pair instead, such as the JBL Tune 770NC.
Who should wait. If you want a carrying case, a roomy soundstage or all day comfort, this is not the model. If you prefer the Black version, Amazon.ca showed $69.98 for it, higher than the other colours.
What is still unknown
Amazon.ca does not say when the price ends or how many units remain. We have not tested the headphones, and the battery and charging figures are JBL’s own claims as reported by Expert Reviews. JBL lists LE Audio as arriving in a later update, with no date.
What to do next
Open the Amazon.ca listing, choose the colour you want and read the price for that exact colour before you order. Then compare with the JBL Canada page, which shows the same model and the maker’s list price. If comfort matters more than price, look at the over ear Tune 770NC too.
