Currency Converter, an exchange rate app for iPhone and iPad, is free on the App Store for a limited time. The Hong Kong site New Mobile Life lists its regular price as US $0.99 and no end date has been published.

The app is made by the developer 乐祥 胡 and sits in the Utilities category. The App Store lists it as free, rated 4+, and it was last updated to version 1.1.1 on the day it was spotted.

What does Currency Converter do?

It converts amounts between major world currencies using the latest exchange rates. You type an amount on either side and the other side updates, and one tap swaps the base and target currencies.

According to the App Store listing, the app also offers:

  • a list of frequently used currency pairs
  • custom pairs, which you can add yourself
  • the option to hide pairs you do not follow
  • pinning, with the most recently pinned pair shown first
  • automatic rate updates while the app is open, plus a manual refresh
  • dark mode and light mode

The interface supports English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese. The developer says the rates are for reference only and that real transaction prices come from banks, payment platforms or other financial institutions.

What is the catch?

The download is free, but the listing also describes subscription plans: 1 month, 1 year and a lifetime membership. The lifetime option is a one-time purchase. The listing does not state prices for these plans in the text we could read, so check the in-app screen before you pay for anything.

Subscriptions renew automatically unless you turn renewal off in your Apple ID settings, as the listing explains. Apple’s page also says the developer indicated that it does not collect data from the app, though Apple notes it has not verified that statement.

Who is it for?

It suits travellers and online shoppers who want a small, simple converter without ads in the way. The app is 3.1 MB, so it takes almost no space.

It needs iOS 17.6 or later on iPhone, iPadOS 17.6 or later on iPad, macOS 14.6 or later on a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or newer, or visionOS 1.3 or later. The listing shows no ratings or reviews yet, so there is little user feedback to judge it by.

If you only need a quick rate now and then, your bank’s app or a free web converter does the same job. The reason to grab this one is that it is free today and the price may return at any time.

How do you get it?

Open the App Store on your device, search for “Currency Converter -Forex tool” and check that the price button says Get. The offer was reported on 2026-11-05 and no end date is stated, so it can change without notice. Once downloaded, the app stays in your library.

The official listing is on the App Store, and the tip came from New Mobile Life.
