Contact Cleaner: Merge Dupes, an iPhone app that tidies your address book by swiping, is listed as Free on its App Store page at the time of writing. The Hong Kong outlet 流動日報 New Mobile Life reported on November 2, 2026 that the original price was US $0.99 and described the offer as limited time.
How long is Contact Cleaner free?
The tip does not give an end date, so treat the offer as something that can end at any time. The App Store page itself shows only the current price, Free, and does not say whether it is a promotion. Canadian App Store pricing is not stated in either source, so check the listing in your own country before you count on it.
If the page shows Free when you open it on your iPhone, you download it like any other app. The listing says it needs iOS 18.0 or later and takes up 11 MB. The developer is Mikhail Altunin, and the age rating is 4+.
What does the app do?
According to the listing, you go through your contacts as a deck of cards: swipe right to keep one, swipe left to remove it. The other features it lists:
- One-tap merge of duplicates matched by name, phone or email, keeping every number and email address
- Cleanup groups for duplicates, contacts with no name, missing phone, missing email and company-only entries
- An A-Z searchable list with multi-select for bulk removal
- Backup and export to a .vcf file, with selective restore
- A contact card to call, text, email, share a vCard or edit
Is it safe to delete contacts with it?
The developer says anything you remove goes into a Trash first, and nothing is erased from the phone until you choose to empty it. A removed contact can be restored from the Trash with a tap. The listing also suggests making a .vcf backup before you start. These are the developer’s own descriptions, and we have not tested them.
On privacy, the listing says the app works on the device through Apple Contacts, with no account or sign-in. The App Privacy section, which Apple notes is not verified by Apple, says usage data and diagnostics may be collected but are not linked to your identity.
Prices
- Now: Free on the App Store page at the time of writing
- Original price: US $0.99, according to 流動日報 New Mobile Life
- Canada: the Canadian App Store price is not stated, so check the listing
- End date: not stated
Who it suits
iPhone owners with a cluttered address book. If you have years of repeated names, entries with no number or cards that only list a company, the cleanup groups give you a place to start.
People who want an undo. The Trash and the .vcf backup are the reason to consider it over deleting contacts by hand.
Anyone cautious about contacts and apps. Read the privacy section on the listing first, and decide whether the developer’s on-device claim is enough for you.
What is still unknown
The listing says the app has not received enough ratings or reviews to show an overview, so there is no user feedback to lean on. We do not know when the price will return, or whether it will go back to US $0.99.
Next step: open the App Store listing on your iPhone, confirm that it still says Free, and back up your contacts before the first cleanup.
