Rockstar Games has released the official launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, and Xbox Wire posted it on its site on October 23, 2026. The game arrives on 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The Xbox Wire post is a short video entry with little text, so the details below come from Austrian outlet news.at and from Game Informer.

What the trailer and release plan show

According to news.at, the trailer went online on 15 October 2026 with little advance notice. The outlet reports it was reportedly captured on a PlayStation 5.

The story follows Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. News.at says Jason left the army under difficult circumstances and Lucia wears an electronic ankle monitor. A heist that was supposed to be easy goes wrong and drags them into a criminal conspiracy.

The setting is the fictional state of Leonida, which news.at says is modelled on Florida and includes Vice City, a stand-in for Miami.

Platforms, physical copies and pre-loading

The game launches on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S only. No PC version has been announced, and news.at says Microsoft states the game cannot be played on PC through a cloud service at launch.

Physical copies are expected in stores from 12 November 2026, but according to both sources the box holds a download code rather than a disc. That lets players install the game a week before launch. Game Informer says pre-loading starts on November 12, 2026 for digital pre-orders and physical copies.

Rockstar says there will be no paid in-game add-on content at launch, according to news.at.

Price and editions

Game Informer reported a Standard Edition at $79.99 and an Ultimate Edition at $99.99. The Ultimate Edition adds exclusive vehicles, weapons, apparel and gameplay content tied to the story of Jason and Lucia. Game Informer also reported that anyone who pre-orders or buys before November 20 gets the Vintage Vice City pack, and digital pre-orders include one free month of GTA+.

The report lists dollar figures without naming the currency. Canadian pricing has not been stated in the sources we read, so check the PlayStation Store, Xbox Store or your retailer for the Canadian price before you order.

A long road to this date

News.at notes the release moved from an earlier plan to 26 May 2026, then to 19 November 2026. Rockstar said it needed more time to polish the game.

What it means for readers

For players in Canada and the United States, the date is the same: 19 November 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you buy a boxed copy, plan for a download of the whole game, so check your console storage and internet plan ahead of time. PC players have no announced version to wait for yet, and anyone hoping for paid extras at launch should note that Rockstar says there will be none.
