Microsoft Flight Simulator has released Local Legend 26, the Antonov An-28, on October 26, 2026. Xbox Wire announced the release the same day, and the sim’s official site carries the full write-up. The add-on is sold through the in-sim Marketplace.

The Xbox Wire post itself is only a short notice, so the details below come mainly from the Microsoft Flight Simulator site and a report from the German outlet FlightNews24.

The aircraft

The An-28 is a twin turboprop STOL utility aircraft, meaning it is built for short takeoffs and landings. Antonov developed it from the An-14, which was re-engined with turboprops as the An-14A. According to the official page, the first clean sheet An-28 prototype flew on January 29, 1973.

Production ran from 1975 to 1993, with 191 airframes built, and many are still airworthy. The page says the type has flown passenger and freight services, medical evacuation, military transport, aerial photography and surveying.

Specs listed on the official page:

  • Up to 17 passengers, or 4,000 pounds of cargo, or a mix of both
  • Two 960 hp Glushenkov TVD-10B turboprops with three blade propellers
  • 43 ft long, with a wingspan of 72 ft 5 in
  • Range of 851 miles and a service ceiling of 19,685 ft
  • Cruise speed of 219 mph
  • Takeoff run of 1,350 ft and landing roll of 1,033 ft

Those are figures for the real aircraft. The official page says the An-28 has been recreated in the sim in exquisite detail, with a trailer and screenshot gallery, but it does not list individual sim features.

Price and where to get it

The official page prices Local Legend 26 at $14.99 USD in the in-sim Marketplace. FlightNews24 files the aircraft under Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, while the official page does not say which platforms the add-on supports, only which platforms the sim itself runs on.

Released alongside World Update 23

The An-28 landed on the same day as World Update 23: Poland and the Baltics, which Xbox Wire lists as a spotlight story. The aircraft suits that region, since FlightNews24 describes it as built for short, unpaved runways.

What it means for you

Canadian pricing has not been stated by the sources, so check the in-sim Marketplace for the CAD price on your account before buying. The USD price on the official page is $14.99 for US players. If you own one of the higher sim editions, FlightNews24 reports an owner discount that may apply, but it was quoted in euros, so confirm it in the Marketplace.

Because the official page does not name the supported platforms for this add-on, Xbox, PC and PlayStation players should check the Marketplace listing on their own system. The aircraft is a good fit for pilots who like bush flying and cargo or passenger runs, and it pairs naturally with the new Poland and Baltics scenery.
