Pigeon Mafia: Park Syndicate, a bread-throwing strategy game for iPhone, is listed as Free on its App Store page, instead of the usual US $0.99 that the tech site New Mobile Life reported on November 8. Neither the store listing nor the site gives an end date for the free price, so anyone who wants it should grab it soon.
What is Pigeon Mafia: Park Syndicate?
You play a retired baker with a bag of day-old bread and one goal: running the most feared pigeon syndicate in the park. Each round you throw bread, recruit pigeons and pay “the Don” a poop quota before the clock runs out. The developer, JUAN PEREZ-NIEVAS, describes the mood as a gangster comedy, and the store page ends its pitch with “Pay once and it’s yours. Capisce?”
Throwing is simple. You can drag and release to drop the bread exactly where you want it, or flick quickly and let the bread find a pigeon by itself. A dotted arc shows where it will land. Your bag only holds a few loaves per round, every pigeon you catch gives one back, and every loaf that hits the ground is gone for good.

What exactly is free, and for whom?
The game itself is the free part. The App Store lists it as Free for iPhone, and it is described as designed for iPhone and not verified for macOS. The listing says it requires iOS 17.0 or later. It also shows that a Mac with an Apple M1 chip or later (macOS 14.0 or later) and Apple Vision hardware (visionOS 1.0 or later) can run it.
Other details from the listing:
- Size: 287.1 MB
- Languages: English and Spanish
- Age rating: 13+, with infrequent cartoon or fantasy violence, profanity or crude humor, and alcohol, tobacco or drug references
- Category: Entertainment
- No ads and no in-app purchases, according to the developer
- Privacy: the developer says it does not collect any data from the app, although Apple notes that this information has not been verified by Apple
New Mobile Life puts the regular price at US $0.99. The App Store page we read shows a price of 0 in US dollars. Prices and offers can differ by country storefront and can change without notice, so check what your own App Store shows before you tap Get.

What do you do in the game?
The park fights back. A park cop patrols, and if he sees you throwing bread you take a strike. Old-timers on the benches steal your last hit, a Thieving Rat goes for your bread bag at dusk, and every plaza ends with a boss, starting with a very short-haired wiener dog.
Losing is not a dead end. Even when you lose, the Don pays you in guano, which you spend in the Godfather’s Ledger on permanent upgrades for your arm, your bag, your aim and your “connections”.
The campaign is a tour of Europe, one plaza at a time: Vitoria-Gasteiz, Madrid, Seville, Paris and Kraków. At the end you face Don Anselmo, the Golden Grandpa, who throws bread made of actual gold. You begin with a Limpy Pigeon and unlock the Pickpocket, the Goon, the Golden Pigeon, the Capo and finally the Mega-Pigeon. Each pigeon has a collectible card in regular, 3D embossed and holographic versions. There are three jobs from the Don every day, a double guano bonus on your first run and a daily streak.

What has changed since launch?
The listing shows regular updates. Version 1.5, dated Oct 11, brought the syndicate to Asia and Oceania with three new squares: Circular Quay in Sydney, Hosier Lane in Melbourne and Viaduct Harbour in Auckland. Expect dive-bombing magpies, ferries that scare the pigeons, rain, fog and Grandpa Croc with his bread boomerang. New pigeons include the Kangaroo, the Ibis and the Rugby pigeon, and there is a Travel Journal in the Ledger.
An earlier story chapter, “Eastbound”, teases a villain called the Condor, and a Halloween event with a Skull Pigeon ran from October 20 to November 2.

Is it worth downloading?
At no cost, yes, if you like short, replayable arcade rounds with light upgrades and collecting. The game appears to be a small solo project, and the listing says it has not yet received enough ratings or reviews to show an overview, so there is little outside feedback to lean on. The 13+ rating and crude humor mean parents of younger children should read the age notes first.
The catch is the missing end date. If the free price disappears, you would be looking at the regular price instead of nothing.
