PhotoSpaceSlim: Photo Cleaner, an iPhone app that shows where your photo storage went, is free on the App Store, and the store listing shows it at Free. The New Mobile Life site reports the usual price is US $0.99 and calls the free offer limited time. Neither the listing nor the tip names an end date.
The app is a small utility from the developer listed as 世宏 熊. It asks you to pick a time range, then breaks down what is taking space in that range. Nothing is deleted on its own, and the analysis runs on the phone.
What does PhotoSpaceSlim do?
You choose “Last 30 days”, “Last year” or “Everything”, and the app returns a breakdown for that range: total size, photos, videos and screenshots. The developer says most cleaners only sort by date, while this one hands you the breakdown.
On top of the breakdown, the app makes four kinds of suggestions, each with its reason shown:
- Old screenshots: older than 90 days and not favorited
- Large videos: single videos over 100 MB
- Screen recordings: no age limit
- Similar photos: burst shots and duplicates, with the sharpest one suggested as the keeper
Items you select go into a basket first. You review the basket, then delete everything at once. The listing says deleted items can still be restored from the system’s Recently Deleted album. The developer’s support page adds a practical note: space is only freed once you empty Recently Deleted.
How does it handle privacy?
According to the App Store listing, all analysis runs on your iPhone, photos are never uploaded, there is no login and there are no ads. The developer’s privacy policy repeats this and says the app works with no network connection. The listing’s privacy label says the developer does not collect any data from the app. Apple notes that this information has not been verified by Apple.
One detail from the privacy policy: if a photo carries a location, the detail page shows a place name, and to get it the app sends that coordinate to Apple’s geocoding service. The developer says it never receives or stores that coordinate. If you do not use the location display, this step does not happen.
How does the similar photo check work?
The developer says similar photos are compared on thumbnail fingerprints computed locally. The first pass takes a while, and afterwards results are reused, so later passes are nearly instant. The app only compares photos taken close in time, and the developer says it would rather miss a match than suggest a wrong one.
What does it cost?
The App Store listing shows Free. The tip article from New Mobile Life puts the regular price at US $0.99, which is a price in US dollars. The listing also describes the app as a one-time purchase with no subscription, no renewals and no in-app purchases. No price is given for any other country or currency, and the sources do not say what happens when the free period ends.
What do you need to run it?
- iPhone with iOS 18.0 or later
- A Mac with macOS 15.0 or later and an Apple M1 chip or later
- Apple Vision with visionOS 2.0 or later
- Download size of 2.7 MB
- Age rating 4+, category Utilities
- Interface in English and 32 more languages, including Traditional and Simplified Chinese, French, Spanish, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese
Who it suits
People who are running out of space. The time range breakdown shows whether screenshots, videos or photos are the heavy part before you delete anything.
Careful cleaners. Every suggestion states its reason and nothing is removed without your confirmation, so you decide item by item.
Privacy minded users. The listing says no photos leave the phone, with no account and no ads, which suits anyone wary of cleaner apps that ask for sign ups.
Who should wait. If your phone runs an iOS version older than 18.0, the app will not install. The listing also shows no ratings or reviews yet, because the app has not received enough, so there is little outside feedback to lean on.
What is still unknown?
The end date of the free offer is not stated, and neither is the price after it ends in any country other than the US dollar figure. The app is new, and the version history on the listing goes back only to Oct 16, so long term reliability is untested.
