Helldivers 2 players who like to fight from a distance get their own Warbond next week. Arrowhead Game Studios announced on the PlayStation Blog on October 13 that the Scope of Authority Premium Warbond goes live on October 20, built around sniper rifles, stealth and camouflage.

As with other Premium Warbonds, Arrowhead notes that you need the base game, Super Credits and enough game progression to unlock the items.

Weapons and stratagems

The Warbond leans hard into long range combat. According to Arrowhead, it includes:

  • R-40 Sightliner: a bolt action sniper rifle for the primary slot with armor piercing rounds
  • P-44 Mist: a one handed machine pistol for when enemies get too close
  • AMW-20 Apex: a large, backpack fed anti materiel rifle with assisted reload, aimed at heavily armored targets
  • LAS-44 Nova: a laser rifle with unlimited ammo that fires a precise, non explosive thermal shot after a short charge
  • G-11 Caltrops: a throwable that scatters proximity triggered submunitions that slow and stun enemies

The mix gives sniper focused players an answer at every range, with the pistol and caltrops covering the moments when a hiding spot is found.

Armor built for hiding

Two new armor sets anchor the stealth theme. The SS-33 Mimetic Marshal is a light armor inspired by ghillie suits, and it comes with a matching Mimetic Mesh cape and player card. The SS-15 Focal Point is a medium armor with adaptive camouflage and an asymmetric visor, paired with the Boundary Banner cape and player card.

Both sets share a new passive called Stationary Shroud. Arrowhead says it reduces weapon sway and detection range while you are crouched or prone, which should suit the slow, patient play style the rest of the Warbond encourages. AltChar, which covered the reveal, frames the two armors as a choice between sneaking through the wilds in the light set and pushing toward enemies in the medium one.

The pack also adds the Manual Ballistic Projection emote and a new player title, Longshot.

What it means for players

If your squad already relies on you for long range support, this Warbond fills gaps in the current arsenal with a dedicated bolt action primary and a heavier anti materiel option in the stratagem slot. Players who prefer running and gunning may find less here, since much of the value is in the armor passive and the sniper tools.

Arrowhead has not listed the Super Credit cost in its announcement, so check the in game Acquisition Center on October 20 before you spend.
