MINI is adding a more rugged version to its largest model line. The MINI Countryman Untamed Edition, announced on October 6, gets more ground clearance, all-terrain tires and its own design details for drivers who regularly leave the pavement. Production starts in November 2026 at BMW Group Plant Leipzig, with the market launch planned for early 2027.

What changes under the car

The Untamed Edition gets a 15 millimetre suspension lift, which raises ground clearance by up to 19 millimetres depending on market and powertrain. MINI says approach and breakover angles are also improved. The lift is offered on every Untamed Edition variant in the United States and Canada, while in Europe it is limited to the electric models.

It rides on new Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tires mounted on exclusive 19 inch wheels. In North America those tires are standard. MINI has recalibrated the ABS, stability control and steering to suit the taller suspension and new tires.

Other practical numbers from MINI:

  • Towing capacity of up to 2,000 kg with the optional tow bar
  • Roof load of up to 75 kg while driving
  • Roof load of up to 300 kg when parked, useful for a roof tent

Depending on the market, the edition will be offered on the Countryman C, D, S ALL4, and the electric Countryman E and SE ALL4.

Camping gear and new colours

MINI developed a hard shell roof tent with Italian company AUTOHOME. It opens in seconds with gas struts and is handmade in Italy. A camping collection of folding chairs and tables comes from outdoor brand HELINOX.

The exterior gets a new upright grille, underbody protection in a finish called Dark Steel, and textured protective film on the wheel arches, side sills and Power Dome. Colours include Hideaway Grey, Nomad Blue, Frozen Nomad Blue, Nanuq White and Midnight Black. MINI says Frozen Nomad Blue is the first matte paint in its series production.

Inside, there are Vescin Nightshade Blue sports seats with knitted panels, Cornflower Blue accents, a tougher centre console storage box with elastic straps, and rubber floor mats.

“Our goal was to emphasise these characteristics through carefully selected colours, materials and details,” said Holger Hampf, head of MINI Design.

What it means for you

Canadian buyers do well with this one. North American buyers get both the suspension lift and the all-terrain tires as standard, which is what makes the Untamed Edition more than a styling kit. That matters on cottage roads, gravel trails and snowy side streets.

MINI has not announced Canadian pricing or which engines Canada will get. The technical data in the release is preliminary and refers to the German market, so expect more details closer to the early 2027 launch.
