Ninja’s SLUSHi Twist, the two-flavour slushie machine SharkNinja launched in the US earlier this year, is back in the spotlight after TIME named it to its Best Inventions of 2026 list. SharkNinja announced the recognition on October 16. The machine sells for $399.99 on SharkNinja’s US store and is also listed on Amazon, and the timing lines up with Halloween parties and the start of holiday gift shopping.

What the SLUSHi Twist does

The Twist (model FS701) is essentially two slushie machines on one base. Each side has its own 72 oz vessel with a 48-oz maximum liquid fill, and each side is chilled separately, so you can run a soda on one side and a frappe or milkshake on the other. A dual dispense handle can also pour both flavours into one swirled cup, a feature SharkNinja calls SLUSHiTwist.

According to SharkNinja, the main specs are:

  • Dual SlushAssist technology that senses the ingredients in each vessel and adjusts the temperature automatically
  • 14 temperature control settings and a WhisperChill compressor, so no ice is needed
  • 10+ servings per batch, based on 9-oz servings
  • Faster slushing than the original Ninja SLUSHi FS301, according to the company
  • A built in rinse cycle for easier cleaning

TIME described it as a machine that “can churn out two icy drinks at once,” and noted that each chamber is cooled on its own, so two very different recipes can reach the right texture together.

The award has given a summer launch a second wave of attention in autumn. Taste of Home reported in May that the Twist was already selling out, with restocks going quickly. SharkNinja is also promoting the SLUSHi range with a Practical Magic 2 tie-in on its US site. The Twist comes in purple, blue, green and taupe.

Who it suits, and who should skip it

The Twist makes the most sense for families and hosts who want two different frozen drinks at the same time, for example one for the adults and one for the kids, which is exactly how SharkNinja pitches it. For parties, 10+ servings per batch means fewer refills.

It is a big appliance, though. SharkNinja lists it at 34.52 lbs and 17.48 in long, 11.93 in wide and 16.26 in tall, so measure your counter and cupboard space first. If one flavour at a time is enough, SharkNinja’s own lineup is cheaper: on its US store the Smart SLUSHi FS351 is $299.99, the SLUSHi XL FS601 is $349.99 and the SLUSHi Max FS605, which makes 12+ servings, is $369.99.

What to check before buying

The prices above are SharkNinja’s US store prices at the time of writing. Amazon prices can differ and can change at any time. Check the model number (FS701 for the Twist) and the colour on the listing. The machine comes with a One (1) Year Limited Warranty from SharkNinja in the US, and frozen drinks take time to chill, so start a batch well before guests arrive.
