Water Tracker for Dummies, a hydration log for iPhone and iPad from developer Robert Corbin, is currently a free download on the App Store. The deal tip site New Mobile Life reported that the app normally costs US$0.99 and is free for a limited time. The App Store listing confirms the price now shows as Free.
What the app does
The idea is simple: log each drink with a tap and see how close you are to your daily goal. According to the listing, you can tap a drink size, enter a custom amount, choose a drink from a built in catalog or refill a named bottle, and the app updates today’s total, goal progress, weekly history and long term trends straight away. The developer’s site describes six quick drink size buttons and a catalog of 45+ beverages.
Version 1.6 added Bottle Bench, which the developer calls a carry bottle ledger. You name the bottles and cups you actually use, set each one’s measured capacity and fill mark, and tap Refill to log that pour. An everyday bottle and a desk tumbler are included so you can start right away.
Other features listed on the App Store:
- Hydration Rhythm, which shows how evenly you spread drinks across the day
- Routine Coach, which tells you whether you are ahead of or behind your pace
- Entry for past days, so you can add a drink you forgot yesterday
- A catch up advisor that suggests how to reach your goal when you are behind
- Reminders that run on the device, a goal calculator and beverage hydration index estimates
- Charts, all time insights, color notes for personal journaling, export and import
- Display in oz, mL or cups
Privacy and requirements
The developer says there is no account, no ads, no analytics and no cloud sync, and that records stay on the device unless you export them. The App Store privacy label says no data is collected.
The listing says the app needs iOS 17.0 or later on iPhone and iPadOS 17.0 or later on iPad, so it runs on older devices than many new apps. The download is only 4.7 MB, and the app is in English only.
The developer stresses that the app provides general wellness information only and does not diagnose, treat or monitor any condition, or replace qualified guidance.
How to get it
- Open the App Store on your iPhone or iPad and search for Water Tracker for Dummies.
- Check that the developer is Robert Corbin and the button shows Get rather than a price.
- Tap Get and confirm with Face ID, Touch ID or your Apple Account password.
- Set your daily goal, then add your own bottles in Bottle Bench.
Once claimed, the app stays in your purchase history, so you can download it again later on the same Apple Account.
How long it lasts
Neither the developer nor New Mobile Life gives an end date, so the price can change back at any time. The App Store listing does not show any in-app purchases.
Who it suits
This is a good fit for anyone trying to build a steady drinking habit who carries the same bottle every day and does not want an account or ads. If you already log water in a larger health app, you may not need a separate one.
