Sony has started a new PlayStation Store sale called Planet of the Deals, with hundreds of PS5 and PS4 games marked down for a limited time. According to the PlayStation Blog, the promotion began on Wednesday, October 21 and finishes at the end of the day on Wednesday, November 4, Pacific time.
Sony’s official sale artwork promises savings of up to 75%. 9to5Toys reported that more than 3,800 games and DLC add-ons are discounted across the two consoles.
What is on sale
The PlayStation Blog posted a long preview list of titles in the promotion. It covers big releases, older classics and smaller indie games. Some of the names on the list:
- Cyberpunk 2077
- FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH
- Hogwarts Legacy: Digital Deluxe Edition
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Indiana Jones and the Great Circle Premium Edition
- Grand Theft Auto V
- HELLDIVERS 2 Super Citizen Edition
- Blue Prince and Cult of the Lamb
- NHL 27 Standard Edition and MLB The Show 26
- Tomb Raider I-VI Remastered
The list also includes a good number of horror games, such as Alien: Isolation, Dead Space Digital Deluxe Edition and The Evil Within, which line up well with Halloween.
Prices in Canada and the US
Sony did not publish the discount for each game in its announcement. Instead, the post tells players to check the PlayStation Store to see the sale price in their own region. Canadian and US prices are shown in Canadian and US dollars on the store, and Sony did not list any Canadian or US prices in the post.
Sony also notes that “Game selection may differ by region.” That means a game on the preview list may not be discounted in Canada, or may have a different discount than in the US. The company adds that start and finish times can also vary by region.
What it means for players
If a game you have been waiting on is in the list, this two week window is a good time to compare its current price with what it normally costs. Open the PlayStation Store on your console, phone app or web browser, go to the Planet of the Deals section and check the price shown for your account region before you buy.
Pay attention to the edition. Many entries in the sale are Deluxe, Premium or Complete editions, and the base game may be priced differently. Also check whether a title is the PS5 or PS4 version if you only own one console.
All purchases in this sale are digital downloads tied to your PlayStation account. The offer ends on November 4, so prices go back to normal after that date unless Sony extends the event.
